FORTY-THREE (43) Arrested, Drugs, Weapons Seized In ‘Operation Steadfast’ In South Trinidad
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said it conducted Operation Steadfast in the Southern Division between 12:00 AM and 10:00 PM on Tuesday (17th September, 2025), as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, reduce violent crime, and rebuild public trust, in line with the TTPS Operations and Strategic Plan.
According to the TTPS, operational highlights included:
- 11 house searches conducted.
- 16 drug blocks searched.
- 6 road blocks conducted.
- 207 Stop and Search exercises conducted.
- 118 Fixed Penalty Notices issued.
- 17 bars searched.
- 39 warrants executed.
Arrests and Seizures:
- A total of forty-three (43) individuals were arrested for various offenses, including robbery, possession of narcotics, driving under the influence, malicious damage, and outstanding warrants.
Among the key recoveries and seizures were:
- 2.308 kilograms of cannabis.
- 1 bulletproof vest.
Notable Arrests:
- Multiple individuals arrested on affiliation and commitment warrants totalling over $250,000.
- Persons held for offenses such as robbery, assault, possession of cocaine, and driving whilst disqualified.
- Several individuals were detained in relation to serious ongoing enquiries including burglary, robbery, larceny, and breach of State of Emergency (SOE) orders.
- 6 Persons of Interest (PIs) were arrested for immigration and other related matters.
The operation was co-ordinated under the command of DCP Benjamin, along with Snr. Supt. Simon, Superintendents Jaikaran and Sooker, ASPs Ramsaran, Ramlogan and Morales, Inspectors Maharaj, Mohammed, Wilkinson, Alexander, Ragbir, Charles and included Officers from the Southern Division, Guard and Emergency Branch, Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), K9 Unit, Highway Patrol, and Municipal Police.
The TTPS said it “continues to assure the public of its commitment to ensuring safety and security across all communities. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity by contacting 999, 555, or anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS.”
