A man is dead and another listed in serious condition at Hospital following a horrific road traffic accident in Cocorite on Wednesday night (9th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Binyameen Rahaman of Warren Road, Cunupia. According to reports, Rahaman was driving a white Nissan AD wagon, heading West along the Western Main Road with a passenger later identified as 21-year-old Faraaz Hosein of Hosein Drive, St. Lucien Road, Diego Martin. However, upon reaching the vicinity of Peake Trading Limited, Rahaman reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which entered the compound and struck a utility pole and part of the fencing, around 10:30 PM. The high impact caused extensive damage to the front and passenger compartments of the vehicle and also displaced the pole. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. A man is dead after he was tragically struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Uriah Butler Highway late last night (Monday 7th September, 2026). The deceased has not yet been identified but is believed to be in his 40s. His right foot was said to have been severed during the powerful impact. According to reports, the driver of a dark grey Suzuki Baleno was travelling North along the Highway, around 10:20 PM, when he noticed the pedestrian, who was about twenty (20) to thirty (30) feet ahead, attempting to cross the roadway. The driver reportedly attempted to slow down, but as he approached, the man entered the path of the vehicle and was struck. The impact was so severe, the victim’s right foot was reportedly severed. According to reports, at least five (5) people are dead and five (5) others injured after an Amazon Prime cargo plane overran the runway at Miami International Airport this afternoon (Sunday 6th September, 2026), crashing into multiple vehicles before catching fire. A full ground stop has been issued for the Airport. The terrifying incident is said to have occurred while the plane was attempting to land at the Airport, around 2:00 PM local time, according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Airport Officials. Authorities have not yet released further details on the fatalities or the injuries. A dramatic high-speed chase along the Beetham Highway this afternoon (Thursday 20th August, 2026) resulted in a car flipping over and a Police van sustaining significant damage. According to reports, the driver of a dark-coloured car (PDZ 2539) allegedly breached a traffic light, prompting a chase by members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS). Highway Patrol Officers who were stationed at the nearby NP Gas Station on the Beetham Highway intercepted the vehicle, which then collided with a TTPS van, causing the vehicle to overturn on the side of the roadway. A man is dead and another injured following a head-on collision along Rivulet Road in Couva on Friday night (31st July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Avinash, also known as “Chucky Avi,” of Dow Village. According to reports, a white Toyota Hilux (TDW 4431) was travelling East along Rivulet Road, when a grey Nissan Frontier (TCK 8116), heading West, allegedly crossed over into the opposite lane, resulting in a violent head-on collision with the Hilux, around 9:30 PM. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Both drivers sustained injuries and were conveyed to the Couva Health Facility for emergency medical treatment. However, Avinash subsequently succumbed to his injuries. EDITOR’S NOTE: The body of this article has been updated with new details. A Police Officer is dead following a road traffic accident in Siparia on Sunday evening (2nd August, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Police Constable Seon Gaskill, who was assigned to the Siparia Police Station. According to reports, a white Toyota Hilux (TAS 7275), driven by PC Gaskill, who was off-duty at the time, was travelling East towards Siparia along the Siparia Old Road, when it collided with the right-rear of a brown Nissan NP300 (TDR 4988), in the vicinity of Colley Street, around 5:40 PM.  Following the initial impact, the Officer’s vehicle reportedly crashed into a nearby wall in an empty lot. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. However, PC Gaskill was subsequently pronounced dead. Five (5) people are currently hospitalized after a vehicle they were in plunged approximately forty (40) feet off the North Coast Road on Sunday afternoon (26th July, 2026). According to reports, the driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer was travelling North towards the Maracas Bay area, when he attempted to stop near Bay View to purchase cotton candy, around 3:45 PM. However, upon applying the brakes, the driver realized the vehicle was failing to slow down.  The car struck a culvert before going over the edge of the roadway. The vehicle then fell about forty (40) feet down an embankment and landed on its roof. Three (3) of the occupants managed to climb up the steep embankment to the roadway, while two (2) others had to be rescued by Fire Officers from the Wrightson Road and Santa Cruz Fire Stations, led by FSO Edwards. UPDATE (30/07/26):  Relatives of missing female Venezuelan national, Nikol Landaeta, are urging authorities not to end search efforts, insisting she has not been found, despite reports circulating on social media. Landaeta, a mother of two (2) children, reportedly worked at a hotel in Trinidad prior to her disappearance at sea. Her uncle, Carlos Lanzu, said she had chosen the sea journey as the most affordable way to reunite with her children, who remain in Venezuela. In a social media post, Lanzu denied reports that his niece had been rescued, saying the family has received no official confirmation of her whereabouts or any photographic evidence to support the claims. He added that relatives have checked local Hospitals and with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), but have found no trace of her. UPDATE 2:  Reports state that little Brithanny boarded a migrant pirogue off Erin en route to the place she called home in San Rafael, Tucupita, Venezuela, hoping to reunite with her grandparents and celebrate her first schooling milestone — graduating from kindergarten. UPDATE (29/07/26):  The Government of Guyana has confirmed that a survivor of the MV Barima disaster has died, as an extensive search-and-recovery operation involving three (3) aircraft and fifteen (15) vessels continues across the country’s Northwestern waters — stretching West to Waini Point and East to Adventure. The latest update comes just hours after the vessel’s Captain and two (2) crew members appeared before a Guyanese Court, charged with the murders of the seventy-three (73) victims whose bodies have been recovered so far. A man is dead after being pinned beneath a tractor in Forres Park, Claxton Bay, on Wednesday afternoon (15th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as farmer, Vijay Harripersad, of Alarack Road, Forres Park. According to reports, Harripersad’s son went to the garden area where his father was working in, located along Alarack Road, to collect a watering can, around 3:30 PM. However, upon arrival, he discovered his father trapped beneath his Ford 6610 tractor (TAY 2766). The son immediately contacted Police and Emergency Health Services. UPDATE (16/07/26):  A post-mortem examination at the San Fernando Mortuary has revealed that Jameela Basrally suffered from cranial hemorrhaging and multiple injuries consistent with a vehicular accident. Speaking to reporters outside the San Fernando General Hospital, her son, Jubal Basrally, recalled how he watched his mother bleed to death in his arms. “I saw my mother die in front of my eyes. She bled out in my hands,” he lamented. Jubal added, “Her skull was cracked open. She bled through her nose and her mouth. She bled out in about thirty (30) seconds. Nobody helped. A teenager is dead following a horrific road traffic accident in Moruga early this morning (Sunday 5th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 16-year-old Adin Baptiste, a Form 3 student of Moruga Secondary School. He died after a stolen car, in which he was a passenger, crashed into a lamp post. According to reports, the teen had been at his grandmother’s home when a friend arrived and picked him up. A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road this morning (Saturday 4th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Jason Ramnanan of Caparo. According to reports, Ramnanan was driving a white panel van when it collided with a green and yellow waste disposal truck (TCJ 1195) near the Santa Phillipa Bridge along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road, around 9:00 AM. A man is dead following a hit-and-run accident in Wallerfield late last night (Sunday 21st June, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Daveanand Santo of Wallerfield. The father was still struggling to come to terms with the death of his 16-year-old daughter, Aliyah Santo, who was killed less than two (2) years ago. According to relatives, Santo had spent part of Father’s Day with family and had just left his sister’s home after dinner, when tragedy struck shortly after 10:00 PM. While walking along Bermuda Road, Wallerfield, Santo was hit by a 7-seater vehicle whose driver failed to stop following the collision. A plane carrying twelve (12) people — a pilot and eleven (11) skydivers — while on a skydiving outing in Missouri, crashed in a field and became engulfed in flames on Sunday morning (14th June, 2026), killing all aboard. The plane is said to have turned around for an unknown reason before crashing near a Highway. Director of the Bates County Emergency Management Agency and the Acting Airport Manager, Dennis Jacobs, said he suspects the plane experienced power issues prior to the devastating crash.
