A Woman Police Constable (WPC) is dead following a road traffic accident in Cunaripo last night (Tuesday 3rd November, 2026). The deceased has been identified as WPC #12456 Pyre Nisha Persad, who served as a member of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation’s Municipal Police Unit. Her death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from the Corporation, where she served as a Municipal Police Officer. According to reports, Persad was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle in Cunaripo, and was subsequently pronounced dead. No further details are available at this time. A man is dead following a horrific freak accident along the Foreshore, just after MovieTowne in Port-of-Spain on Tuesday (3rd November, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 66-year-old truck driver, Lennox Sylvan, popularly known as “Mr. Berry,” of Unity Road, Richplain Road, Diego Martin. According to reports, Sylvan was working under the cab of his blue truck along the shoulder of the Westbound carriageway, when it was suddenly struck from behind by a heavy vehicle. The collision reportedly caused the truck’s cab to collapse on Sylvan, trapping him between the cab and the tray. Additionally, with his body pinned, the impact sent the truck rolling forward across the busy intersection at Mucurapo Road, cutting across four (4) lanes of traffic before mounting the pavement and coming to a stop. A man is dead following a road traffic accident in Valencia on Saturday evening (10th October, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 59-year-old Anthony Daryl Baptiste of Don Avenue, Valencia. He died after his vehicle reportedly struck two (2) walls, including that of a church, resulting in him being violently tossed onto the road. According to reports, Baptiste was driving a black Mitsubishi Galant in an Easterly direction along Valencia Old Road, Valencia, when he apparently lost control near Oropouche Road. The car first collided with a kerb wall before crashing into the perimeter wall of an evangelical church on the Southern side of the roadway. Baptiste, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was ejected onto the road. He suffered fatal injuries and was later identified by his neighbour. A man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Priority Bus Route (PBR) in Arima early Monday morning (5th October, 2026). The deceased has not yet been identified. According to reports, the pedestrian was struck in the vicinity of the Arima Licensing Office, around 3:38 AM. The impact reportedly threw him some distance away onto the roadway, resulting in serious injuries. The driver stopped and contacted Police and Emergency Health Services, who responded to the scene. UPDATE: The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Joel Farfan of Brazil and Mt. Pleasant, Arima. The two (2) other occupants of the car remain in critical condition at this time. Reports state that Farfan had attended an event hosted by his cousin, who operates an event-rental pool business and car-rental business. Farfan was reportedly asked by his cousin to use one of the rental vehicles to transport two (2) women to their homes before the fatal crash occurred. Newly released CCTV footage shows the car swerving to the right and then turning sharply to the left, before crashing through a railing and into the flowing river below. Farfan’s parents were said to have been attending church when they received news that their son had been involved in the accident. A pedestrian is dead after he was struck by a red band maxi taxi along the Priority Bus Route (PBR) in D'Abadie on Wednesday evening (23rd September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Jalani Nigel DaCosta of Mora Trace, D’Abadie, an out-patient of the St. Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital. According to reports, DaCosta was walking East along the PBR, in the vicinity of Boys Lane, D'Abadie, when he reportedly began drifting toward the middle of the roadway, around 5:40 PM. At the time, a red band maxi taxi was also travelling East along the same route. The 47-year-old driver attempted to avoid DaCosta by maneuvering the vehicle to the left and right. However, he reportedly moved back into the path of the maxi taxi, resulting in a collision. DaCosta sustained severe injuries. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is warning motorists against drinking and driving following a fatal road traffic accident along Guaico Tamana Road last Friday night (18th September, 2026). According to the TTPS, around 10:00 PM, Eastern Division Officers responded to a road traffic accident involving a Toyota Hilux, which struck a male pedestrian. The pedestrian was thrown into a drain on the left side of the roadway and suffered fatal injuries. Responding Officers detected the scent of alcohol on the driver, a 40-year-old Sangre Grande man, and administered a breathalyzer test, which he failed. He was immediately arrested and charged. Officers are continuing efforts to identify the deceased. A man is dead and another listed in serious condition at Hospital following a horrific road traffic accident in Cocorite on Wednesday night (9th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Binyameen Rahaman of Warren Road, Cunupia. According to reports, Rahaman was driving a white Nissan AD wagon, heading West along the Western Main Road with a passenger later identified as 21-year-old Faraaz Hosein of Hosein Drive, St. Lucien Road, Diego Martin. However, upon reaching the vicinity of Peake Trading Limited, Rahaman reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which entered the compound and struck a utility pole and part of the fencing, around 10:30 PM. A man is dead after he was tragically struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Uriah Butler Highway late last night (Monday 7th September, 2026). The deceased has not yet been identified but is believed to be in his 40s. His right foot was said to have been severed during the powerful impact. According to reports, the driver of a dark grey Suzuki Baleno was travelling North along the Highway, around 10:20 PM, when he noticed the pedestrian, who was about twenty (20) to thirty (30) feet ahead, attempting to cross the roadway. According to reports, at least five (5) people are dead and five (5) others injured after an Amazon Prime cargo plane overran the runway at Miami International Airport this afternoon (Sunday 6th September, 2026), crashing into multiple vehicles before catching fire. A full ground stop has been issued for the Airport. The terrifying incident is said to have occurred while the plane was attempting to land at the Airport, around 2:00 PM local time, according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Airport Officials. A dramatic high-speed chase along the Beetham Highway this afternoon (Thursday 20th August, 2026) resulted in a car flipping over and a Police van sustaining significant damage. According to reports, the driver of a dark-coloured car (PDZ 2539) allegedly breached a traffic light, prompting a chase by members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS). Highway Patrol Officers who were stationed at the nearby NP Gas Station on the Beetham Highway intercepted the vehicle, which then collided with a TTPS van, causing the vehicle to overturn on the side of the roadway. A man is dead and another injured following a head-on collision along Rivulet Road in Couva on Friday night (31st July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Avinash, also known as “Chucky Avi,” of Dow Village. According to reports, a white Toyota Hilux (TDW 4431) was travelling East along Rivulet Road, when a grey Nissan Frontier (TCK 8116), heading West, allegedly crossed over into the opposite lane, resulting in a violent head-on collision with the Hilux, around 9:30 PM. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Both drivers sustained injuries and were conveyed to the Couva Health Facility for emergency medical treatment. The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Police Constable Seon Gaskill, who was assigned to the Siparia Police Station. According to reports, a white Toyota Hilux (TAS 7275), driven by PC Gaskill, who was off-duty at the time, was travelling East towards Siparia along the Siparia Old Road, when it collided with the right-rear of a brown Nissan NP300 (TDR 4988), in the vicinity of Colley Street, around 5:40 PM.  Following the initial impact, the Officer’s vehicle reportedly crashed into a nearby wall in an empty lot. Five (5) people are currently hospitalized after a vehicle they were in plunged approximately forty (40) feet off the North Coast Road on Sunday afternoon (26th July, 2026). According to reports, the driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer was travelling North towards the Maracas Bay area, when he attempted to stop near Bay View to purchase cotton candy, around 3:45 PM. However, upon applying the brakes, the driver realized the vehicle was failing to slow down.  The car struck a culvert before going over the edge of the roadway. The vehicle then fell about forty (40) feet down an embankment and landed on its roof. Three (3) of the occupants managed to climb up the steep embankment to the roadway, while two (2) others had to be rescued by Fire Officers from the Wrightson Road and Santa Cruz Fire Stations, led by FSO Edwards. UPDATE (30/07/26):  Relatives of missing female Venezuelan national, Nikol Landaeta, are urging authorities not to end search efforts, insisting she has not been found, despite reports circulating on social media. Landaeta, a mother of two (2) children, reportedly worked at a hotel in Trinidad prior to her disappearance at sea. Her uncle, Carlos Lanzu, said she had chosen the sea journey as the most affordable way to reunite with her children, who remain in Venezuela. In a social media post, Lanzu denied reports that his niece had been rescued, saying the family has received no official confirmation of her whereabouts or any photographic evidence to support the claims. He added that relatives have checked local Hospitals and with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), but have found no trace of her. UPDATE (29/07/26):  The Government of Guyana has confirmed that a survivor of the MV Barima disaster has died, as an extensive search-and-recovery operation involving three (3) aircraft and fifteen (15) vessels continues across the country’s Northwestern waters — stretching West to Waini Point and East to Adventure. The latest update comes just hours after the vessel’s Captain and two (2) crew members appeared before a Guyanese Court, charged with the murders of the seventy-three (73) victims whose bodies have been recovered so far. The Government said seventy-seven (77) people were initially rescued, but one (1) survivor later died, reducing the number of survivors to seventy-six (76).
