A woman has died at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope, days after she was critically injured in a collision early Monday morning (1st June, 2026) in Cunupia, involving an electric scooter and a motor vehicle. The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Venezuelan national, Rusimine Riaz, of Mon Plasir Road, Cunupia. According to reports, the collision occurred around 2:10 AM along Jerningham Junction Road in the vicinity of Lucky Junction. Police Officers responding to the scene observed a white Nissan Wingroad (PBZ 7116) facing South along the roadway. They also found Riaz lying at the front of the vehicle next to a red electric scooter, with visible injuries about her body. The injured woman was conveyed to the Chaguanas Health Facility for emergency medical treatment. UPDATE (02/06/26): While the statement issued by the PTSC indicated that the driver was undergoing medical treatment, there are unconfirmed reports that he subsequently died at Hospital.  There has been no official confirmation of those reports from either the PTSC or health authorities at this time, and the name of the driver has not been disclosed. According to the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), at approximately 4:25 PM on Saturday afternoon (30th May, 2026), the driver of vehicle HDT 4003 experienced a medical emergency while en route to Port-of-Spain. As a result, the bus veered off the roadway in the vicinity of Macoya. Emergency response personnel arrived promptly at the scene and assisted the passengers and the driver. UPDATE 4:  Family members, friends and loved ones gathered today (Saturday 30th May, 2026) to say their final goodbye to 20-year-old Deshawn Joseph. A man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle off the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway in Chaguanas early Saturday morning (16th May, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Brian Lalla of Cashew Gardens, Longdenville. According to reports, the fatal accident occurred near the lay-by leading from the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway to the Chaguanas Main Road, in the vicinity of Mid Centre Mall, around 12:50 AM. A silver Nissan Almera was said to be proceeding North along the Highway, when the 39-year-old driver of St. Mary’s Village, South Oropouche, merged onto the lay-by and observed two (2) men walking along the left side of the roadway. One of the pedestrians, later identified as Lalla, allegedly drifted into the path of the vehicle and was struck, causing him to be thrown several feet onto the nearby grassy area. A man is dead and two (2) others critically injured following a horrific road traffic accident along the Uriah Butler Highway in Caroni early Sunday morning (10th May, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Jordan Franklyn. The force of the crash reportedly split the vehicle in half. According to reports, the victims were in a black Hyundai Elantra (PCZ 4157), heading along the Northbound lane of the Highway, in the vicinity of Guayamare, Caroni, when the driver lost control and slammed violently into a lamp post, around 6:00 AM. The impact was so severe that the vehicle split into two (2) pieces, scattering debris across the roadway. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded. The deceased has been identified as 74-year-old Ephrem Mary Pereira of Orna Trace, Cantaro Village, Santa Cruz. According to reports, the incident occurred along the Westbound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, in the vicinity of the IBIS building, around 5:15 AM. She was reportedly attempting to cross the Highway near a walkover. A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway in Gasparillo early this morning (Sunday 3rd May, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 61-year-old Stephen Delphino of Sennon Village, Coora Road, Siparia. According to initial reports, Delpino was behind the wheel of a Toyota Aqua when he lost control and veered off the Highway in the vicinity of the Vos Government Primary School. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded. However, Delpino succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The area where the incident took place has long been a source of concern, with multiple deadly accidents having been recorded in the past along that stretch of roadway. The deceased has been identified as 58-year-old Sintra Singh of La Romaine. She was a passenger in a vehicle involved in the crash and tragically died just hours before she was set to celebrate her 58th birthday. According to reports, Singh was seated in the back seat of a grey Nissan Cube, driven by her nephew, while her sister occupied the front seat. The relatives were reportedly on their way to drop Singh’s sister home, when the vehicle, travelling downhill, encountered mechanical issues along Wellington Gardens, shortly after 4:00 AM. A man is dead after he was struck by a panel van while attempting to cross the Uriah Butler Highway on Monday afternoon (27th April, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Hamant Sieunarine, aka ‘Sean.’ According to reports, the pedestrian abruptly ran across the Highway from the Western side to the Eastern side, in the vicinity of Bicks, directly into the path of an oncoming white panel van (TCZ 8028), which was proceeding North in the right lane, around 2:15 PM. The driver was unable to react in time, resulting in the tragic collision. CCTV footage captured the moment of impact. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and Officers from the St. Joseph Police Station responded. However, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Two (2) men are dead following a horrific road traffic accident in Bacolet, Tobago, on Sunday morning (26th April, 2026). The deceased have been identified as Keyon “Sprang” Nimblett and Shakka Rivers, both from Signal Hill, Tobago. They were employees of REM Elite construction company. Aside from being co-workers, the men were said to be “like brothers” and never ventured anywhere without each other. A man is dead following a road traffic accident in Freeport on Thursday afternoon (16th April, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Francois Baptiste of Ramlal Street, Chickland Road, Freeport. According to reports, Baptiste was killed when his vehicle collided with a concrete barrier along Mission Road, Freeport, around 1:00 PM. Speaking with Guardian Media at the family’s home, Baptiste’s mother, 78-year-old Jassodra Girley Tookhai, said she was shocked to learn of his death. She last saw her son earlier that morning and he appeared to be in good spirits. Tookhai said Baptiste had changed the battery in his blue Nissan Wingroad on Wednesday (15th April, 2026) and later left home to go out. A man is dead after he was struck and dragged by a vehicle along the Preysal Main Road last night (Wednesday 15th April, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Martin Machikan, of Main Road, Preysal. The driver of the vehicle is said to have failed to stop following the impact. According to reports, Machikan was struck by a white motor vehicle while he was on the roadway. The impact caused him to be dragged along the roadway before the same vehicle then ran over him during what is believed to have been an overtaking manoeuvre. The driver did not stop after the fatal impact, with reports indicating the vehicle continued on its way.  CCTV footage obtained from the area only shows portions of the incident, capturing the vehicle appearing to drag and subsequently run over the victim. A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Archibald-De Leon Highway, near La Brea, on Saturday night (11th April, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 63-year-old Brian Aberdeen, aka ‘Zuggy,’ of Boodoosingh Lane, Rousillac. According to reports, Aberdeen was driving a black Nissan Wingroad in a Southerly direction along the Archibald-De Leon Highway, when he lost control near the Vance River flyover and collided with a traffic sign, around 7:40 PM. The vehicle then flipped several times before landing approximately thirty (30) feet down in a ditch.  Police, Fire and Emergency Health Services were notified. UPDATE (20/04/26):  The 32-year-old man detained in connection with the jet ski incident that claimed the life of 7-year-old Angelica Jogie at Pigeon Point Beach has been released from custody as investigations remain ongoing. The suspect was arrested at his Canaan home in the early hours of Thursday 9th April, 2026, a day after the jet ski he was operating allegedly collided with Angelica, her parents, and another relative. Angelica’s body was later transported to Trinidad and she was laid to rest on Saturday (18th April, 2026), at her family’s home in Monkey Town, Barrackpore.
