The body of a man who went missing while hiking at Marianne Gorge, Blanchisseuse, on Sunday afternoon (1st November, 2026), was recovered a short while ago today (Monday 2nd November, 2026) by Officers of the Fire Service. The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Donald Francis of Tacarigua. The tragic development was announced by the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT), led by Commander Shamsudeen Ayube. According to the HSRT, at around 3:30 PM on Sunday, Francis attempted to swim across the gorge to join four (4) other persons who were on the opposite side. Unfortunately, he did not reach the group. Other members of his hiking group immediately began searching for him but were unable to locate him at the time. The body of a missing elderly man was found floating in the pond at Usine Ste. Madeleine on Saturday morning (24th October, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 82-year-old Paras Bhaiwah of Sugar Road, Bronte, near San Fernando. According to reports, the pensioner, who lived with relatives, had left home earlier without their knowledge. Upon discovering him missing, inquiries led to CCTV footage which showed the elderly man walking along the road in the village sometime after 4:00 AM. His body was later found floating face-down in the pond by his son-in-law, several miles away from his home. He was unresponsive and the relative reportedly attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but was unsuccessful in reviving him. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. UPDATE (14/10/26): The body of 31-year-old Nyron Chadee was reportedly discovered with a gunshot wound to the back of his head — in a suspected execution-style killing. Chadee was said to be a known offender of Charlotte Street, Princes Town. The body of a missing man was found along the La Brea coast on Saturday morning (10th October, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Nyron Chadee of Charlotte Street, Princes Town. Chadee, who was reported missing on 7th October, 2026, was positively identified by his relatives. According to reports, a resident observed the body floating in the waters near Carat Shed Beach at Point Sable, around 8:00 AM, and alerted the authorities. Relatives of the missing man travelled to the area and were able to confirm his identity via his tattoos, his cornrow hairstyle and the clothes he wore. The body of a missing man was found along the shoreline at St. Ann’s Beach, Mayaro, on Sunday morning (4th October, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Claytus Phillip of Cedar Groove Road, Mayaro. He was said to be an outpatient of the St. Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital. According to reports, Phillip was subsequently identified by his girlfriend after Police were alerted about a body seen at the beach in St. Ann’s Village, around 6:00 AM. PCs Eccles, Francois and Ramoutar responded to the scene and found Phillip lying motionless on his back. Police said no marks of violence were observed on his body and have thus far classified the report as a drowning. Officers spoke with Phillip’s girlfriend, around 8:00 AM, who positively identified the body and said she had last seen him on Friday (2nd October, 2026). A man has drowned after he got into difficulty while spearfishing off the coast of La Fillette, Blanchisseuse, last evening (Tuesday 29th September, 2026), in the company of his brother. The deceased has been identified as 62-year-old Neil Kaiser of Mount Lambert. According to the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT), a valiant effort was made by his brother to bring him to the rocky coastline, then with the assistance of Police Officers, he was taken up to the North Coast Road and placed in a vehicle, all while resuscitation efforts were being administered. He was then transferred to an Ambulance in Las Cuevas and taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (POSGH) for emergency medical treatment. A soldier attached to the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) drowned on Thursday morning (17th September, 2026) while on foot-patrol at Three Pools, Blanchisseuse. The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Corporal Renis Phillip, a twin of Point Ligoure, Point Fortin. According to reports, Corporal Phillip was among four (4) members of the TTDF who left their post at the Blanchisseuse Community Centre and proceeded along a hiking trail towards Three Pools, around 9:30 AM. However, while the group was attempting to cross the second pool, Phillip, who was leading, reportedly fell approximately eight (8) to ten (10) feet into the pool. He attempted to swim towards the river bank but got into difficulty while doing so. The other soldiers tried to assist him by throwing straps for him to hold onto, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Several subsequent attempts were made to reach Phillip before he went underwater. The body of a man was recovered from the waters off Pigeon Point Beach in Tobago this afternoon (Sunday 23rd August, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Ravi Seelochan. According to reports, passengers aboard several reef tour boats spotted a body floating near the Nylon Pool, around 12:00 PM, and alerted lifeguards at Pigeon Point. Lifeguards responded and were able to bring the body ashore before notifying the Police. The man was later formally identified as Ravi Seelochan by his brother, Sunil Seelochan. Moments before the tragedy unfolded, Ravi was recorded by someone on video, while sitting on the shore: The body was subsequently ordered removed to the Scarborough Mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. UPDATE 2:  Reports state that little Brithanny boarded a migrant pirogue off Erin en route to the place she called home in San Rafael, Tucupita, Venezuela, hoping to reunite with her grandparents and celebrate her first schooling milestone — graduating from kindergarten. Instead, she died while desperately trying to reach for her mother as she and at least twenty-eight (28) others were plunged into the ocean by the sinking vessel. Her final rites were performed at the Boysie Boodoo Crematorium in Penal. UPDATE (29/07/26):  The Government of Guyana has confirmed that a survivor of the MV Barima disaster has died, as an extensive search-and-recovery operation involving three (3) aircraft and fifteen (15) vessels continues across the country’s Northwestern waters — stretching West to Waini Point and East to Adventure. The latest update comes just hours after the vessel’s Captain and two (2) crew members appeared before a Guyanese Court, charged with the murders of the seventy-three (73) victims whose bodies have been recovered so far. The Government said seventy-seven (77) people were initially rescued, but one (1) survivor later died, reducing the number of survivors to seventy-six (76). Authorities also confirmed that out of the seventy-three (73) bodies that have been recovered, five (5) have yet to be positively identified — while an estimated thirty (30) people remain unaccounted for. A teenager has drowned while bathing in the waters of Brasso Seco on Sunday afternoon (28th June, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Isiah Estrada of Brazil Village, Arima, who has a twin brother. The Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT), led by Captain Vallence Rambharat, said they received a distress call about a possible drowning in the first Marianne River Gorge, Brasso Seco, around 3:00 PM. Upon arrival at the remote location at 10:00 PM, the team was told that Isiah was bathing with a friend from Brasso Seco when he did not surface. Using specialized equipment, the HSRT was able to recover the body at 12:15 AM this morning (Monday 29th June, 2026) from under a rocky shelf, in approximately seventeen (17) feet of water. Police Officers from the Blanchisseuse Police Station visited and processed the scene. Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the tragic drowning. UPDATE (18/05/26): Investigators believe Daniel Mclean may have fallen from a coconut tree, hit his head and rolled into the nearby sea, as his body was reportedly found with head wounds. The deceased has been identified as Daniel Mclean of Bacolet, Tobago. He was a father of one (1) and an employee of Dane Phillip Plumbing and Enterprises, who was also known for earning extra income by picking coconuts. A 6-year-old girl is currently hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after she was found unresponsive in a swimming pool at a children’s recreational facility in Gasparillo on Friday afternoon (10th April, 2026). The child has been identified as Skylar Gabriel. The pool measures approximately forty-five (45) feet by twenty (20) feet, with a depth ranging between three (3) feet and five (5) feet.  According to initial reports, Skylar was in the pool with other children at Bumper Jumperz Fun Park, located along Morash Avenue, Bonne Aventure, when she was found unresponsive, around 1:20 PM. A man drowned while bathing off the North coast at Tyrico Bay on Sunday afternoon (8th March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 62-year-old Anthony Daniel of Upper Thomasine Street, Laventille. He died after being pulled under by a wave. According to reports, Daniel arrived at the beach sometime between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Approximately half an hour later, he entered the water and began bathing, around twenty (20) to thirty (30) feet from the shoreline. However, while in the water, a wave reportedly pulled him under. Bystanders managed to pull Daniel back to shore several minutes later, where CPR was immediately started in an effort to revive him. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and Officers from the Maracas Bay Police Station responded to the scene, around 2:45 PM. UPDATE (04/03/26): The body found washed ashore in Tobago has been identified as “Stacy” from Golconda, San Fernando . She was reportedly found unclothed, with a rope wrapped around her neck. A body washed ashore at a beach in the village of Hope, Tobago, this afternoon (Tuesday 3rd March, 2026). The deceased has not yet been identified. The area in which the body was found is in the vicinity of the newly-constructed district office for Mt. St. George/Goodwood THA Area Representative Megan Morrison. Police were alerted and responded to the scene. The area was cordoned off. A teenager tragically drowned at Clifton Hill Beach in Point Fortin on Friday evening (2nd January, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Emmanuel Williams of Gonzales Village, Guapo, a former student of Point Fortin East Secondary School. According to reports, Williams went on a beach lime at the Clifton Hill Beach Facility with three (3) friends in the early afternoon. However, while diving off some rocks, one of his friends, a 17-year-old boy, got into difficulties in the water sometime after 3:00 PM. A baby girl is suspected to have drowned in a pool at a private residence in a gated community in Diego Martin on New Year’s Eve (Wednesday 31st December, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 10-month-old Alya Amalia Ramjit, who was born on 21st February, 2025. According to reports, Alya was left in the care of her grandmother at the family’s two-storey home, while her parents briefly went upstairs. However, when the child’s father returned downstairs a short time later, he noticed his mother was alone and the baby was nowhere in sight. Upon asking about her whereabouts, the grandmother said she did not know. After searching the house, Alya’s father went to a door on the Southern side of the home and looked toward a swimming pool located on the property. The body of a man was discovered floating face-down in the sea off Lady Hailes Avenue, San Fernando, this morning (Saturday 13th December, 2025). The deceased has not yet been identified. According to reports, an elderly man, identified as 68-year-old Bobby Maharaj, spotted the body floating in the sea, shortly after 11:00 AM. Maharaj believes he saw the same man on Friday night (12th December, 2025), walking towards the direction of the sea. Several hours later, while in the same area on Saturday morning, Maharaj noticed a body floating face-down in the water. He attempted to alert a passing Police vehicle, which did not stop.  Police were subsequently notified of the grim discovery and responded to the scene. A fisherman is said to have drowned during a fishing trip in Guayaguayare on Friday afternoon (10th October, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Ramdath Pana of New Grant, Princes Town. According to reports, Pana had gone fishing with his friend at Pt. Galeota Road, Guayaguayare, around 12:00 PM. Both men walked approximately 600 feet into the water to throw a fishing net, after which Pana remained on the shore. However, approximately six (6) minutes later, Pana’s friend noticed that he had disappeared. After calling out to him with no response, he sought help from nearby friends to search the area. They later discovered Pana’s body floating face-down in the water. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, Pana was unresponsive.
