Police Recover Stolen Vehicles During ‘Operation Steady Guard’ In Sangre Grande

Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) recovered two (2) intact stolen vehicles and one (1) which had been completely stripped, during a co-ordinated anti-crime exercise conducted in the Sangre Grande District on Friday (5th June, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the operation, dubbed “Operation Steady Guard,” was conducted between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM and involved Officers of the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Eastern Division Task Force (EDTF). Acting on intelligence information, Officers proceeded to the Turure Road, Guaico area, where they conducted inquiries in relation to a white Kia K2700 motor vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier that day in Arima. Bandit Steals $67,000 In Cash From Unlocked Car In Gasparillo — Businessman Followed From Republic Bank

A business owner’s vehicle was reportedly targeted and robbed of $67,000 in cash outside his home in Gasparillo on Wednesday afternoon (3rd June, 2026), less than an hour after he withdrew the money from a bank. According to reports, the businessman visited Republic Bank Limited (RBL) at Valpark Shopping Plaza, Valsayn, and withdrew $67,000 in cash, around 3:30 PM. The money was placed inside a large brown envelope before he returned to his black Toyota Corolla and drove home. Upon arriving at his residence, the man parked the vehicle in an open area near his home, around 4:30 PM. He then went inside, leaving the vehicle unlocked with its windows down. The envelope containing the cash, along with a bank statement, remained on the front passenger seat. However, approximately ten (10) minutes later, he returned to the vehicle and discovered that both the envelope and bank statement were missing. 33 Persons Detained In Mayaro — Ammunition And Narcotics Seized

An anti-crime operation conducted in the Mayaro district resulted in the detention of thirty-three (33) persons and the seizure of ammunition and narcotics on Saturday morning (23rd May, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), six (6) premises were searched during the operation, between 1:00 AM and 7:00 AM, resulting in the detention of thirty (30) undocumented Venezuelan nationals, comprising twenty-one (21) females and nine (9) males. Additionally, three (3) persons were arrested for separate offences; a 37-year-old man of Guayaguayare was arrested for possession of ammunition, after Officers allegedly found four (4) rounds of 9mm ammunition.  Enquiries are also continuing into outstanding reports of larceny of cables, larceny of motor vehicle, and robbery with violence. Man Denied Bail Following Princes Town Robbery With Violence, Aggravation Cases

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Nicholas Spann has been remanded in custody following Court proceedings related to two (2) separate robbery incidents in May 2026. Both matters were initially heard at the South Masters Court on 13th May, 2026 before Master Kimitria Gray. In each case, the accused exercised his right to legal counsel and did not enter a plea. Bail was denied, and summary trials have been recommended. The cases have now been transferred to the Princes Town Magistrate Court, with hearings scheduled for 10th June, 2026. The first incident, a robbery with aggravation, occurred on 5th May, 2026 at Naparima Mayaro Road. The victim was assisted promptly by the Princes Town Criminal Investigations Department (CID), with investigations led by PC Thomas under the guidance of ASP Pacheco, Insp. Wilkinson, Sgt. San Fernando Man In Custody For Several Serious Offences Against 38-Year-Old Woman

Officers attached to the San Fernando Police Station are investigating a serious incident involving allegations of sexual assault, robbery, false imprisonment, and assault. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said the alleged victim, a 38-year-old woman from Malgretoute Road, Princes Town, reported that she was unlawfully detained and assaulted by a 54-year-old male resident of Princess Margaret Street, San Fernando. According to the victim, the incidents began on Friday 27th February, 2026, when she visited the suspect’s residence to collect money owed. She alleges that the suspect prevented her from leaving and unlawfully took personal property, including cash and identification documents. The victim further reported that between 1st March and 6th May, 2026, she was subjected to sexual assault by the suspect. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has provided an updated statement regarding the ongoing joint security operation being conducted in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF), following an armed home invasion and robbery at a residence in Cunupia early this morning (Saturday 2nd May, 2026). In a Media Release this afternoon, DCP Operations, Suzette Martin, said, “I can now confirm that an additional suspect was fatally shot after reportedly engaging Police Officers during an operation at approximately 12:30 PM today. This brings the total number of deceased suspects in connection with this matter to four (4).” Three (3) of the suspects were fatally shot by Officers during an armed confrontation in the Jonathan Trace area of Cunupia. UPDATE: Government Senator David Nakhid believes he was followed from a financial institution before his vehicle was broken into in Cascade. He said he had just left the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) branch in Maraval and, after reviewing security footage, believes he was trailed by suspects who later targeted his vehicle. Speaking on his way to Parliament a day after the robbery, Nakhid said financial institutions must do more to protect customers beyond the confines of their branches. “From my investigation, this has happened several times, especially when people bank at RBC Maraval. I think RBC Maraval needs to put some security in place, not only inside the bank, but outside to monitor cars and individuals loitering around, observing customers as they leave,” he said. “I would like to tell the banks that your security has to extend outside of the banks themselves. BODIES of Missing Elderly Men Found In Burnt-Out Vehicle In Valencia — Police On The Scene

UPDATE 3:  Two (2) women are among four (4) suspects in Police custody as of today (Saturday 9th May, 2026), as investigators continue probing the murders of Kenneth Gill and Bernard Mahabir.  Samantha Toppin, a vendor at the Tunapuna Market, is believed to have played a key role in orchestrating the killings. The woman was arrested at an apartment along M.I. Trace, El Socorro, by Officers attached to the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region II. She was reportedly identified on CCTV footage at two (2) ATMs while withdrawing cash from the account of one of the murdered men. Following her detention, investigators carried out a series of operations which subsequently led to the arrest of another female suspect and two (2) men in connection with the case. A Municipal Police Officer has been charged with the murder of Acting Corporal Anusha Eversley , as well as other firearms-related charges, following the deadly incident which took place at the San Fernando Municipal Police Station early Sunday morning (19th April, 2026). The Officer has been identified as 28-year-old PC Jivan Cooper of La Sophie Trace, Claxton Bay. UPDATE 8:  Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has revealed that stolen firearms may have been leaving the San Fernando Municipal Police Station and being sold on the black market for months. Speaking to reporters after a sod-turning ceremony at the Hilton Garden Inn, South Park, San Fernando, on Wednesday 22nd April, 2026, the Prime Minister disclosed that early findings suggest a prolonged pattern of illegal activity involving weapons stored at the station. According to her, information gathered so far indicates the removal and sale of firearms was not a recent development, but a sustained operation that may have gone undetected for as long as eight (8) months. The Prime Minister suggested that the duration of the alleged activity points to significant lapses in oversight. Freeport Family Robbed of Cash, Jewellery, Valuables In Armed Home Invasion

A family of five (5) has been left traumatized following an armed home invasion in Freeport early Tuesday morning (7th April, 2026). According to reports, the victims, including a 51-year-old truck driver of Teewarie Road, his 42-year-old wife, and three (3) other occupants, aged twenty-two (22), twenty (20) and thirteen (13), were asleep when they were awakened by a loud crashing noise, around 4:45 AM. Upon investigating, they were confronted by three (3) men, one (1) armed with a firearm and two (2) wielding cutlasses, who announced a robbery. The intruders ordered the occupants to lie on the ground before ransacking the house. The bandits made off with approximately $600 in cash, a quantity of jewellery and a Samsung A32 cellphone. Man Shot Dead By Police Following Home Invasion In Valsayn

A man is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in St. Joseph on Monday afternoon (16th March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Sharaz Samaroo, aka ‘Glasses,’ who was allegedly involved in a home invasion earlier that day in Valsayn. According to reports, four (4) masked men entered a family’s home along Valsayn Avenue, shortly before 1:00 PM. The men confronted an elderly woman who was seated on a couch inside the house. However, before they could carry out the robbery, the assailants were startled by a male occupant of the house and quickly made their escape. The incident was captured on CCTV footage inside the home.   The suspects are said to have entered the family’s home from Farm Road (Bangladesh), located at the back of their property. Officers attached to the Southern Division Road Enforcement Task Force responded to a report of robbery with violence in the Mon Repos district on Friday (27th February, 2025). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), at approximately 2:00 PM, a dark blue Hyundai Tucson was reported stolen. Around 2:15 PM, the stolen vehicle was observed along the Golconda Connector Road in the vicinity of the traffic lights. A vehicular pursuit ensued, and the vehicle was intercepted at approximately 2:20 PM in an empty lot of land. Upon interception, two (2) male suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot in a Westerly direction into nearby bushes. A Point Fortin man has been charged in connection with an incident of robbery with violence, which occurred at approximately 7:30 AM on 14th October, 2025, in Claxton Bay. In a Media Release on Wednesday (18th February, 2026), the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said the victims, a 68-year-old woman and her 71-year-old husband, were at their residence when they were alerted by sounds of movement inside their home. Upon checking, they were confronted by three (3) men. One of the suspects, who was armed with a firearm, announced a robbery. During the incident, the 71-year-old victim was assaulted and received several blows about the body, causing injuries. The assailants proceeded to rob the victims of quantities of cash and jewellery before making good their escape in an unknown direction. A man has died at Hospital, days after a shooting incident during a robbery at his sales tent in Gulf View on Saturday night (14th February, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 56-year-old Vijay Nanan of Rousillac. According to reports, the businessman and his employee, 40-year-old Yudelcy Martinez, were conducting sales at his tent along Gulf View Link Road, when two (2) men dressed in dark clothing stormed in and announced a robbery, around 7:00 PM. Nanan allegedly refused to surrender and armed himself with a cutlass, in an attempt to defend his employee and the day’s earnings. A struggle ensued between Nanan and the bandits inside the small tent. A family has been left traumatized following a violent home invasion and robbery in Carapichaima early Wednesday morning (28th January, 2026) . According to reports, three (3) armed men stormed a home located along Roopsingh Road Extension, Carapichaima. The victims were asleep when they were suddenly awoken by loud noises, around 3:30 AM. The intruders, all brandishing firearms, announced a robbery, tied the victims in the bedroom, and struck one of them multiple times with a crowbar. The suspects then proceeded to ransack the house, stealing jewelry, TT currency, US $10,000, and three (3) cellphones before fleeing in the family’s black Toyota Yaris (PEF 8948). 49-Year-Old Chinese Businessman Tied Up, Beaten To Death In His Restaurant In Ste. Madeleine

The body of a Chinese businessman was found bound and bloodied inside his business place in Ste. Madeleine last night (Sunday 18th January, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old Xhi Li Li of Manahambre Road, Ste. Madeleine. He was the owner of Yue Hua Chinese Restaurant and Bar. Investigators said he was beaten to death with a baton and have classified this incident as a robbery-homicide. According to reports, Li’s body was discovered shortly before Midnight, when a customer visited his establishment, located at the corner of Manahambre Road and the M2 Ring Road, to make a purchase. The customer attempted to buy food through a small opening in the front door, which the proprietor typically used to conduct sales after the business was locked for the night. Facebook Marketplace Robbery: TWO (2) Men Shot Dead By Police In Mount Hope; Third Wounded

Police shot and killed two (2) men and wounded a third following an attempted Facebook Marketplace robbery in Mount Hope this afternoon (Friday 16th January, 2026). The deceased have been identified as Romel Telesford and Jabari Murrell, both of Small Street, Second Caledonia Road, Morvant. The third wounded suspect is also said to be from the same Morvant area. According to reports, one of the suspects made prior arrangements with a prospective buyer, via the Facebook Marketplace, to sell him a Nissan Tiida for $40,000. However, the victim became suspicious about the transaction and notified the Police, which led to a sting operation. A family has been left traumatized following a harrowing home invasion and robbery by cutlass-wielding bandits at their residence in Penal on Tuesday night (13th January, 2026)  According to reports, a father locked and secured his home on Rochard Road and retired to bed, around 9:30 PM. However, he was subsequently awakened by his daughter’s screams, shortly before 11:00 PM. Upon investigating, he saw four (4) masked men armed with cutlasses inside the living room. The suspects demanded cash and jewellery and tied up the father, his daughter and four (4) other relatives. They then proceeded to ransack the house, stealing $15,000 in cash, cellphones and jewellery, before making their escape in the father’s white Nissan Wingroad.
