A woman was arrested after Police seized an AR rifle, ammunition, cannabis and cannabis-infused products during an intelligence-led operation, conducted in the Northern North and North Central Divisions in Curepe last night (Friday 31st July, 2026). The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is advising that an intelligence‑led operation, conducted between 4:00 PM and 11:00 PM on Friday (31st July, 2026), resulted in the fatal shooting of escaped prisoner, Robby Khadoo, and the arrest of a female for harbouring an escaped prisoner. Khadoo, known by several aliases, including Allan Charles, Joshua Dillon Chambers, Robby Dylan Khadoo and Robby Dillon Joshua Khadoo, who had been charged with murder, attempted murder, and wounding with intent, escaped lawful custody at the Arima Hospital on 3rd July, 2026 . The Department of Natural Resources and Forestry (DNRF) under the Division of Environment, Climate Resilience and Energy (DECRE) is confirming that two (2) men were arrested during a wildlife enforcement operation at Lambeau Beach, Tobago, at approximately 9:00 AM on Thursday (30th July, 2026). During the operation, Officers discovered what is believed to be the carcass of a sea turtle together with a quantity of turtle meat and turtle eggs believed to have been unlawfully removed from a nesting site. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), four (4) detainees who escaped from the Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) on 18th July, 2026 , appeared before Master Singh-Phillip at the High Court North A on Friday (24th July, 2026), where they pleaded guilty to the offence of escaping lawful custody. The four (4) male detainees were sentenced to terms of hard labour, ranging from nine (9) to fifteen (15) months. Three (3) additional detainees appeared before Master Dalrymple Watts at the High Court North A on Tuesday (28th July, 2026), where they also pleaded guilty to the offence of escaping lawful custody. The three (3) male detainees were sentenced to terms of hard labour, ranging from one (1) to two (2) months. All seven (7) detainees were scheduled to re-appear before the High Court today (Wednesday 29th July, 2026), to answer two (2) counts of assaulting a Police Officer. A Police Officer and a teenage suspect are dead following a shooting incident in Kelly Village, Caroni, last night (Tuesday 28th July, 2026). The deceased Officer has been identified as 48-year-old Police Constable Romell Kerry Douglas, who was last assigned to the Four Roads Police Station. His licensed firearm was stolen during the suspected robbery. According to reports, PC Douglas, who was off-duty at the time, was sitting in his white Nissan Tiida (PDD 6374) along South Bank Road, near Hydraulic Trace, when gunmen alighted from another white Nissan Tiida and confronted him, around 11:05 PM. The assailants opened fire, striking Douglas multiple times about the body. However, he managed to return fire during the attack, striking one of the suspects. The Officer’s licensed pistol was stolen before the men made their escape. PC Douglas was found with multiple gunshot wounds by first responders, around 11:15 PM. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) intercepted a vessel carrying seven (7) persons during a routine maritime patrol early this morning (Tuesday 28th July, 2026). In a Media Release following the incident, the Coast Guard said the vessel, identified as a pirogue, was intercepted in the vicinity of Monos Island. Preliminary assessments indicated that the occupants, comprising four (4) adult males, one (1) adult female and two (2) minors, were Venezuelan nationals. A search of the vessel resulted in the discovery of assorted food items and other provisions. The vessel and its occupants were subsequently handed over to the relevant authorities for processing in accordance with the laws of Trinidad and Tobago. The Media Release concluded by saying, “The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard remains committed to maintaining the security of the nation’s maritime borders and supporting inter-agency efforts to combat illegal maritime activity.”

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG), at approximately 7:27 PM last night (Sunday 26th July, 2026), whilst conducting searches for an overturned vessel on the South Coast of Trinidad, a Coast Guard patrol boat observed a pirogue proceeding from Venezuela to the South Coast of Trinidad.  In a Media Release today (Monday 27th July, 2026), the Coast Guard said the patrol boat was able to intercept the pirogue and discovered 252 packets of a green, plant-like substance onboard. Once the pirogue was secured, it was handed over to Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), along with its contents and its two (2) occupants. UPDATE (30/07/26):  Relatives of missing female Venezuelan national, Nikol Landaeta, are urging authorities not to end search efforts, insisting she has not been found, despite reports circulating on social media. Landaeta, a mother of two (2) children, reportedly worked at a hotel in Trinidad prior to her disappearance at sea. Her uncle, Carlos Lanzu, said she had chosen the sea journey as the most affordable way to reunite with her children, who remain in Venezuela. In a social media post, Lanzu denied reports that his niece had been rescued, saying the family has received no official confirmation of her whereabouts or any photographic evidence to support the claims. He added that relatives have checked local Hospitals and with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), but have found no trace of her. UPDATE (28/07/26):  Businesswoman Star Sabga was released from prison late last night (Monday 27th July, 2026). This comes after the State failed to obtain an extension of a temporary stay that had delayed her release following a High Court ruling. Sabga is said to have walked out of the Golden Grove Prison shortly after 11:30 PM after the 6-hour stay expired without the Court of Appeal granting the State’s request for additional time. Immediately following her release, Sabga was escorted by Police Officers to her home in Regents Park, Westmoorings, where she will remain under strict house arrest conditions, while her constitutional claim against her Preventive Detention Order (PDO) is heard by the Court. Earlier on Monday, High Court Justice Vigel Paul ruled that Sabga should be granted interim relief, finding that her legal challenge raised serious constitutional issues that should be determined by the Court. A man has appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with the murder of 81-year-old pensioner, James Le Cadre, which occurred on 27th June, 2026. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), 22-year-old Kendelle Michael Seales, aka ‘Shango,’ of Valencia, was charged with the offence when he appeared before Master Raydon Dalrymple-Watts, in the High Court North ‘B,’ on Tuesday (21st July, 2026). The matter was adjourned to 10th October, 2026. Le Cadre, of Plantation Road, Valencia, was found burnt to death at his home on 27th June, 2026. A man is dead following a shooting incident near his home in Chaguanas last night (Thursday 23rd July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old taxi driver, Joel Macoon of 111 New Settlement, Caroni Savannah Road, Chaguanas. According to reports, Macoon was crossing the road near his home, heading to a nearby mini-mart, when a gunman alighted from a silver Toyota Axio and opened fire in his direction. The gunman then re-entered the waiting vehicle, which sped away from the scene. Macoon collapsed on the roadway after being shot. Officers from the Chaguanas Police Station were alerted by the E999 Police Command Centre to a report of loud explosions heard in the area, and responded to the scene, shortly after 7:00 PM. The decomposing body of a missing man was found in the Heights of Aripo in Arima on Monday afternoon (20th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Mayfan Claircin of Eastern Quarry, Laventille, who was an employee of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure. Claircin was last seen around 11:30 PM on Friday night (17th July, 2026), after he reportedly left home in his red Mazda 323 (PCC 9986) to meet a woman in Valencia — but never returned. The deceased has been identified as Shaquille Charles of Mon Repos Road, Morvant, who was said to be an employee of Parts World Limited (PWL).  Investigators believe this is the latest killing linked to an escalating gang feud between the Chinapoo and Mon Repos areas.
