Man Shot Dead In Broad Daylight In Barataria — Possible Reprisal Killing For Recent Triple Murder
A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident in broad daylight in Barataria earlier today (Tuesday 21st July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Shaquille Charles of Mon Repos Road, Morvant, who was said to be an employee of Parts World Limited (PWL).
Investigators believe this is the latest killing linked to an escalating gang feud between the Chinapoo and Mon Repos areas.
According to reports, Charles was gunned down in the car park of a business place along the Eastern Main Road, Barataria.
Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. However, Charles succumbed to his injuries.
The killing is reportedly being treated as a possible reprisal attack following the horrific triple murder at the Unipet Gas Station in Laventille on Saturday (18th July, 2026).
Reports state that Charles, who was not known to be involved in criminal activity, was allegedly targeted because he lived in the Mon Repos community, which has been at the centre of an increasingly violent conflict with rivals from Chinapoo — fueling multiple murders and shootings in recent months.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding this latest murder.
More on this as it becomes available.
