Chaguanas Businessman Held For $5,500 Fraud Offence — Granted $50,000 Bail
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a Chaguanas businessman was granted bail with surety in the sum of TT $50,000 by a Justice of the Peace (JP), after he was charged with fraudulent conversion valued at TT $5,500, by Fraud Squad investigators. Shamir Rafique was granted bail by JP Carl Dattoo and is expected to appear before a Master of the High Court on Wednesday (2nd September, 2026). Reports indicate that a victim paid a man a sum of money in November 2025, that represented a down-payment for the purchase, installation and delivery of a glass shopfront with back glass, consisting of two (2) fixed panels and one (1) commercial door. The items were to be delivered and installed within six (6) weeks, with the balance of money to be paid upon completion of the job.
