Today: Sunny, Breezy, 30% Chance For Heavy Showers — Mild To Moderate Saharan Dust; 33°C Max

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), we can expect generally sunny and breezy conditions today (Monday 31st August, 2026). A few partly cloudy spells and showers are likely over a few areas during the afternoon and evening. There is also a low (30%) chance of the odd isolated heavy shower or thunderstorm, especially over Southern areas of Trinidad.

The Met Office notes that a mild to moderate concentration of Saharan dust is expected. Persons sensitive to this change in air quality are advised to take the necessary precautions.

The forecast maximum temperature today will be 33°C at Piarco in Trinidad and 32°C at Crown Point in Tobago.

Seas are moderate with waves 1.5m to 2m in open waters and below 1m and choppy near showers in sheltered areas.

Recommendations for outdoor activities today:

Persons heading outdoors today should prepare for hot, sunny and breezy conditions, with temperatures reaching up to 33°C in Trinidad and 32°C in Tobago. Stay well hydrated, wear lightweight, breathable clothing, and use sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat to limit exposure to the strong sun. Keep an umbrella or light rain gear handy, particularly if spending the afternoon or evening outdoors, as a few showers are possible and there is a 30% chance of an isolated heavy shower or thunderstorm, especially over Southern Trinidad. Those sensitive to Saharan dust should take appropriate precautions, such as limiting prolonged outdoor exposure if conditions become uncomfortable and following any personal air-quality measures. Beachgoers and boaters should also exercise caution, as seas will be moderate with 1.5m to 2m waves in open waters, while sheltered areas may become choppy near showers.
