The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is reminding the public that according to the Ministry of Education, the re-opening of schools is scheduled for Monday (13th April, 2026). In a Media Release today (Sunday 12th April, 2026), the TTPS said, “As such, the TTPS wishes to remind motorists to re-adjust schedules to factor in increased traffic on the roadways as well as be extra-vigilant for school children crossing roadways and stay alert for children entering and exiting from vehicles.” Senior Superintendent of the Traffic & Highway Patrol Branch, Lincoln Daly, is warning drivers who are in a hurry and may think to “take a chance” on the shoulder that his Officers will be out in full force to help ensure persons have a safe journey across the Highway network. The San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation - Disaster Management Unit (SJLRC DMU) said at 1:05 PM this afternoon (Tuesday 25th November, 2025), that it received a confirmed report of a fallen tree along the North Coast Road that took down power lines and is currently blocking the roadway, approximately five (5) minutes after the Pillars, heading to Maracas Bay.  The SJLRC DMU said the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service (TTFS) is on-site and requested support. The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) has been notified and is responding. SJLRC DMU saw operators are currently mobilizing to the scene. Motorists are urged to exercise caution.
