TTPS Clarifies Misattributed CAPA Data In Media Publication

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said it wishes to address and correct misinformation published by a media entity regarding data attributed to the Crime and Problem Analysis Branch (CAPA). In a Media Release on Friday (24th April, 2026), the TTPS said, “The Crime and Problem Analysis Branch (CAPA) is firmly committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and integrity in all information disseminated, recognizing the significant impact that inaccurate or misleading data can have on public perception and confidence in the Organization.” According to the TTPS, “It has come to the attention of the TTPS that a recent media publication stated: ‘Recent CAPA data ranks Tobago Division as among the areas with the highest gang-related murders.’ The TTPS categorically states that CAPA has not produced, supported, or communicated any such analysis or conclusion. NCRHA Rejects False Claims of Body Bag Shortage

The North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) said it “categorically denies claims circulating online regarding a shortage of body bags.” In a Media Release on Thursday (16th April, 2026), the NCRHA said, “At present, there is no shortage, and supplies remain well-stocked, with additional routine stock incoming as part of the Authority's standard supply management processes.” The NCRHA is urging members of the public to “rely on verified information, as disseminated through the RHA's official pages and the Ministry of Health's official channels, and not be misled by content mischievously designed to create unnecessary concern and unrest among members of the public.” The Media Release concluded by saying, “The Authority remains committed to ensuring that all necessary resources are in place to provide quality, efficient care to all patients.”

Ministry Clarifies Misinformation On Defensive Driving And Insurance Requirements

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation is addressing misinformation circulating on social media and other platforms, regarding an alleged $10,000 fine imposed on persons under the age of twenty-five (25) for failing to complete a defensive driving course as a condition for obtaining motor vehicle insurance. In a Media Release today (Wednesday 14th January, 2026), the Ministry said at this time, there is no provision under the laws of Trinidad and Tobago, including the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act or its subsidiary legislation, that requires persons under the age of twenty-five (25) years to complete a defensive driving course as a mandatory condition for obtaining or maintaining motor vehicle insurance. The Ministry is urging the public to “remain vigilant against misinformation in the public domain and to rely only on official Government communication channels for accurate and verified information.” Please be guided accordingly.

FAKE Media Release Circulating Regarding Licensing Division Operating Hours

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation is advising the public that a Media Release currently circulating under the heading “Revised Operating Hours of Licensing Division” is false. In a Public Notice issued this evening (Sunday 11th January, 2026), the Ministry said the official operating hours of all Licensing Division offices throughout Trinidad and Tobago remain Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MTCA) is advising the public that the image circulating online titled “New Permit Renewal Fees (Effective January 1, 2026)” is FAKE. In a statement issued today (Wednesday 31st December, 2025), the Ministry said it “confirms that no notice regarding an increase in permit or licence renewal fees has been issued.” Members of the public are urged to disregard these false claims, avoid sharing the misinformation, and verify any updates only through official Government channels. Stable Rowdex — A Fraudulent Online Cryptocurrency Scheme Using AI-Generated Impersonations

The Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC) is advising the public of a fraudulent online investment scheme, operating under the name “Stable Rowdex” (also referred to as “Stable Capital”), which is promoting a cryptocurrency-related investment opportunity.   In a Public Advisory issued on Tuesday (23rd December, 2025), the TTSEC said it has confirmed that the entity is distributing Al-generated videos, fabricated news articles, altered images and other falsified promotional content purporting to show endorsements from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the Minister of Finance and other prominent individuals. WASA Condemns Fraudulent Communication Regarding Overdue Water Bill Payments

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) said it has become aware of a fraudulent notice circulating to customers, falsely claiming to be an official communication from the Authority regarding overdue water bill payments.  In a Media Release today (Wednesday 26th March, 2025),  WASA said it “strongly condemns this malicious act, which is clearly intended to deceive and exploit our valued customers.  This fraudulent message, which instructs customers to make payments via a suspicious link, is NOT authorized by WASA. The Authority does not engage its stakeholders in such an unprofessional or coercive manner. Heritage Warns of Fake Ads In Circulation On Social Media

Heritage Petroleum Company Limited (Heritage) is advising the public to exercise caution regarding several deceptive online advertisements and fake Facebook pages purporting to offer investment opportunities in Heritage.  In a Media Release on Wednesday (5th March, 2025), Heritage said, “ Misleading advertisements are circulating on social media, urging persons to share personal information as part of the registration process to invest in Heritage shares. The public is reminded that Heritage is wholly State-owned, with the Minister of Finance in his capacity as Corporation Sole as its only shareholder, and that no shares are currently on offer to the public.” Heritage added, “These latest fraudulent attempts follow two (2) previous advertisements involving a fake Facebook page — ‘Heritage Petroleum Trinidad and Tobago’ — with false claims of selling company shares.
