According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), we can expect generally hot and hazy conditions during this afternoon (Friday 11th September, 2026), with a few brief showers, except for Southern coastal and Western gulf areas of Trinidad, where there is likely to be partly cloudy conditions, with a low to medium chance of an isolated heavy shower or thunderstorm. During the evening and night, encroaching cloudiness from the East is expected to produce a few showers and a medium to high chance for thunderstorm activity over Eastern coastal and near offshore areas of Trinidad, increasing inland from near Midnight.  In the event of a heavy shower or thunderstorm, gusty winds are to be expected, and street or flash flooding is likely in the vicinity.  The Met Office notes that there is a significant concentration of Saharan dust at present. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), a short-term drought is expected across Tobago, Northeast Trinidad and the lower Caroni River basin in October through November , based on the 6-month Standard Precipitation Index (SPI) values expected at Crown Point (OCT: -1.65, NOV: -1.5), Hillsborough (OCT: -1.64, NOV: -1.46), Valencia (OCT: -1.76, NOV: -1.5) and Piarco (OCT: -1.45, NOV: -1.41).
