WASA: Planned Water Interruption On Monday Across Several Areas of Trinidad

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising customers of planned water interruption due to maintenance works at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant Sub Station, between 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Monday (27th April, 2026). These works involve the replacement of transformers by the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC). WASA Confirms Progress On Electrical Repair Works At El Socorro Booster Station

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) provided an update today (Wednesday 15th April, 2026) on repair works following the electrical fault affecting the El Socorro Booster Station's starter mechanism. In a Media Release, WASA said, “As previously communicated, repairs to the electrical starter are progressing methodically. The Authority wishes to confirm that while the process has required additional time to ensure a thorough and safe resolution, our technical teams remain fully in control of the operation.” WASA notes that repairs are ongoing, and the second booster unit is now anticipated to be fully restored and returned to operation by 6:00 PM on Thursday evening (16th April, 2026). WASA Provides Update On Discoloured Water In Central And South Trinidad

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is providing the public with an update regarding the ongoing emergency repair works on the 36-inch transmission pipeline near the Beetham Gardens Development. In a Media Release today (Sunday 12th April, 2026), WASA said a significant leak developed on the pipeline on Monday 6th April, 2026, and while a temporary repair was made that same day to restore service, “permanent repairs are now necessary to ensure the long-term safety and reliability of the system.”  These works require the temporary shutdown of the El Socorro Booster Station and the El Socorro High-Lift Station, which began at 6:00 AM on Saturday (11th April, 2026). Full service is expected to be restored by 6:00 AM on Monday (13th April, 2026). WASA Announces Temporary Reduction In Production At Caroni Arena Water Treatment Plant

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising the national community of a temporary reduction in production at the Caroni Arena Water Treatment Plant on Thursday (9th April, 2026), between the hours of 6:00 AM and 12:00 PM. During this six-hour period, production will be reduced to approximately 45 IMGD (Imperial Million Gallons per Day) to facilitate emergency cleaning and maintenance of the Raw Water Station. According to WASA, “This critical intervention has become necessary following significant rainfall over the holiday weekend, which caused flooded river conditions and resulted in heavy debris and silt accumulation within the raw water sump at Caroni. The debris has restricted inflow to the raw water pumps, affected operational performance, and caused subsequent tripping on undercurrent. The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising of a partial road closure on Fondes Amandes Road, St. Ann’s , for urgent sewer main works, as follows: DATE: Monday 23rd March, 2026 to Tuesday 31st March, 2026. PERIOD: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Motorists are urged to proceed with caution and follow Police or Traffic Warden instructions. The Authority notes that, where feasible, one (1) lane will remain open to avoid full closures. Weekend works will occur to expedite completion. WASA Condemns Vandalism At Penal Wells, Calls For Immediate End To Attacks On Infrastructure

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is reporting two (2) incidents of vandalism at Penal Wells #17 and #18, underscoring growing concern over repeated attacks on critical water infrastructure in South-West Trinidad. In a Media Release on Thursday (19th March, 2026), WASA said the facilities were vandalized on 24th February, 2026 and again on 16th March, 2026, “when electrical cables were cut and T&TEC meters stolen, resulting in significant damage to operational systems.” The incidents resulted in production losses of 0.12 million gallons per day (MGD) in February and 0.14 MGD during the most recent act, with estimated repair costs totalling over $23,000. Chief Executive Officer Dain Maharaj strongly condemned the acts and issued a firm warning. “These acts of vandalism are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. WASA Advises of Reduced Production At DESALCOTT Due To Raw Water Challenges

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is updating the national community on operational adjustments currently underway at the Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago (DESALCOTT) facility. Due to recent changes in the quality of the source water entering the plant, there has been a temporary reduction in the amount of water produced and subsequently supplied to WASA. In a Media Release today (Thursday 5th March, 2026), the Authority said DESALCOTT has advised that since 22nd February, 2026, they have “observed changes in the raw seawater at their intake. These variations, which are usually a natural occurrence in raw water sources, have resulted in an above-normal presence of organic material. WASA: Service Disruption In South Trinidad Due To Emergency Repairs At Savonetta Booster Station

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is informing residents and businesses in the Lower Southwest Peninsula of an upcoming interruption to their water supply due to planned emergency electrical repairs at the Savonetta Booster Station. These critical repairs are scheduled to commence on Saturday 28th February, 2026, and are expected to be completed on Monday 2nd March, 2026, by 6:00 PM. According to WASA, as a result of this shutdown, customers in several districts may experience low water pressure or no water service for the duration of the works. WASA Advances Pipeline Upgrades And Service Improvements In Couva South

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) said it continues to advance critical infrastructure upgrades across the Couva South district, with several pipeline installation projects currently in progress and additional works planned to improve water supply reliability for residents. WASA: South Oropouche Pipeline Repairs Completed Ahead of Schedule

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising customers, motorists and members of the general public that emergency repairs to the 36-inch transmission pipeline along South Trunk Road, South Oropouche was completed ahead of time, at approximately 12:00 AM on Friday (6th February, 2026). Customers are further advised that it may take between twenty-four (24) to forty-eight (48) hours for the service to normalize to some affected areas, in accordance with established water supply schedules. The Authority notes that temporary asphalt surface road restoration has also been completed and the flow of vehicular traffic in the vicinity of the job-site returned to normal. Permanent restoration of the site will be undertaken in the coming weeks, in collaboration with NIDCO and the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure - Highways Division.
