The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said it is aware of a social media post featuring a male voice, purportedly that of a Police Officer, reporting that he has received personal threats in relation to a matter currently engaging the attention of the Courts. The post further alleges that an envelope containing what appears to be three (3) rounds of live high-calibre ammunition was discovered. The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Petit Valley, Arouca and St. Joseph on Monday (1st June, 2026). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works — 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.   According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Petit Valley, Arouca and St. Joseph are as follows:  PETIT VALLEY Along Simeon Road, inclusive of Sparrow Drive, Eagle Drive, First Street, Second Street, Third Street, Fourth Street, Bacchus Drive and all associated side streets. A man is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Matura on Friday afternoon (29th May, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Jaden Diaz of Lower Rio Grande, Matura. According to reports, Officers assigned to the Matura Police Station were alerted to disturbances at a property along Lower Rio Grande Road, and responded to the location, around 3:05 PM. Upon arrival, Officers reportedly observed Diaz outside an unfinished concrete structure. While conducting inquiries, an Officer allegedly noticed what appeared to be cannabis plants growing at the rear of the property. Police claimed Diaz suddenly ran towards the back of the premises while holding what appeared to be a firearm. Officers pursued him after issuing commands for him to stop. Diaz is said to have then re-entered the house, where an Officer allegedly saw him point what appeared to be a firearm in his direction. UPDATE (02/06/26): While the statement issued by the PTSC indicated that the driver was undergoing medical treatment, there are unconfirmed reports that he subsequently died at Hospital.  There has been no official confirmation of those reports from either the PTSC or health authorities at this time, and the name of the driver has not been disclosed. According to the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), at approximately 4:25 PM on Saturday afternoon (30th May, 2026), the driver of vehicle HDT 4003 experienced a medical emergency while en route to Port-of-Spain. As a result, the bus veered off the roadway in the vicinity of Macoya. Emergency response personnel arrived promptly at the scene and assisted the passengers and the driver. The affected passengers and the driver were transported to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope, where they are currently undergoing medical treatment. The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the person or persons involved in two (2) acts of vandalism at its WASA Beetham Substation in Port-of-Spain. In a Media Release on Saturday (30th May, 2026), T&TEC said its emergency crews responded to an outage originating from its WASA Beetham Substation at approximately 2:00 PM on Friday (29th May, 2026), where several sections of control cables had apparently been cut and removed. Crews were able to quickly transfer the load to another circuit and restore supply to affected customers within thirty (30) minutes. However, at approximately 6:00 AM on Saturday morning, T&TEC said another intrusion occurred. Security footage captured a man entering the substation compound who, in attempting to cut cables, triggered an explosion and fire. The man hurriedly fled the scene. Police have alleged that 24-year-old Kaia Sealy was armed with a Glock 9mm pistol and fired at them during the highly-controversial fatal encounter on 20th January, 2026 in St. Augustine , in which her common-law husband, 31-year-old Joshua Samaroo, was killed. Police also allege that the firearm used by Sealy was recovered from the vehicle driven by Samaroo, in which she was a passenger. Sealy has since been charged with manslaughter and warrants have been issued for her arrest in connection with the Police-involved shooting of Samaroo. She, however, has insisted that she is not a gangster and has never held a gun in her life. Questions still remain as to why Sealy and Samaroo fled from Police in the first place on that fateful day in January, instead of pulling aside when Officers attempted to intercept their vehicle, and why Police subsequently opened fire while Samaroo’s hands were raised in the air. A major Anti-Illicit Trade Initiative, dubbed “DUNWICH 5/2026,” conducted in the South Oropouche Police District, resulted in the seizure of more than 2,700 illicit and unsafe items, including illegal cigarettes, counterfeit branded clothing, unregistered male enhancement pharmaceuticals and defective consumer products. The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising customers in several parts of North, Central and South Trinidad that there will be a temporary disruption to their pipe-borne water supply, due to essential works being carried out by the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC). In a Media Release today (Friday 29th May, 2026), the Authority said T&TEC will “execute a critical 20/25MVA transformer installation at the Caroni Arena Substation, located at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant. EDITOR’S NOTE: The body of this article has been updated with new details. A man is dead following a brazen shooting incident along Rivulet Road, Couva, this afternoon (Thursday 28th May, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 51-year-old Ricardo Diaz, an employee of Proman. According to reports, Diaz was driving his black BYD SUV (PEK 2887) along Rivulet Road, near the Point Lisas Industrial Estate and in the vicinity of the National Energy Corporation, West of the Brechin Castle traffic lights, when gunmen opened fire on his vehicle, shortly before 5:00 PM. Diaz was said to be the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time and sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene, where the victim was found slumped in the driver’s seat of the SUV. A woman was granted bail with surety in the sum of $80,000 after she appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with assaulting a Police Officer.  In a Media Release today (Thursday 28th May, 2026), the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said Katrianna Rezende, 38, of Diego Martin, was also charged with disorderly behaviour, resisting arrest, dangerous driving and careless driving, when she appeared before Master Lisa Singh-Phillip, in the Arima High Court, on Wednesday (27th May, 2026). She pleaded not guilty to all charges and was granted $80,000 bail to cover the charge of assaulting a Police Officer and $60,000 bail to cover the other offences.  The matter was adjourned to 24th June, 2026. The Ministry of Health is advising the public that the Eastern Regional Health Authority (ERHA) is actively managing several suspected and probable cases of varicella (commonly known as chickenpox), identified among healthcare workers at the Sangre Grande Hospital Campus. In a Media Release a short while ago this afternoon (Thursday 28th May, 2026), the Ministry said the affected staff members within the ERHA were “ identified across several departments, and immediate infection prevention and control measures were implemented in accordance with established public health protocols. The body of a missing man was found in some bushes in Las Lomas early on the morning of Wednesday 20th May, 2026. The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Adrian Peter Duff of Las Lomas #3. His body was discovered days after he made a desperate call to Police for assistance. A post-mortem examination conducted on Monday (25th May, 2026) at the Forensic Science Centre found that Duff died from ligature strangulation, using an object tied around his neck, and also from multiple stab wounds about the body. According to relatives, Duff contacted the Police Command Centre on Monday 18th May, 2026, claiming he had been chopped and was trapped in a cocoa field before the call suddenly disconnected. Relatives and Police carried out extensive searches in forested areas near Esperanza Trace, Las Lomas. UPDATE (6:00 PM): Police arrested prominent Kaia Sealy/Joshua Samaroo protest movement leader Alyssa Phillip, her mother, and another individual a short while ago this afternoon (Wednesday 27th May, 2026), during a strong Police crackdown near the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The arrests took place at the corner of Sackville and Richmond Streets in Port-of-Spain. A Police Officer charged with the offence of indecent assault appeared before Master Guerra-Abraham at the Port-of-Spain Master’s Court on Monday (25th May, 2026), following investigations conducted by the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB).  According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the accused, PC Nkosi Nunes, attached to the Northern Division, was granted bail with surety in the sum of TT $200,000 by Justice of the Peace (JP), Mr. Stephen Young. The matter was adjourned to 18th June, 2026. The charge arose out of investigations into a report of indecent assault received by the PSB on 27th June, 2025.
