TTPS Seizes Over 2,700 Illicit Items In South Oropouche

A major Anti-Illicit Trade Initiative, dubbed “DUNWICH 5/2026,” conducted in the South Oropouche Police District, resulted in the seizure of more than 2,700 illicit and unsafe items, including illegal cigarettes, counterfeit branded clothing, unregistered male enhancement pharmaceuticals and defective consumer products.

In a Media Release today (Friday 29th May, 2026), the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said Officers seized 1,016 unregistered male enhancement and assorted pharmaceutical items, 940 illicit cigarettes, 470 illicit electrical and assorted consumer products, and 320 counterfeit brand-name clothing items on Wednesday (27th May, 2026).

At approximately 11:20 AM, investigators conducted inspections at a supermarket located along Southern Main Road, South Oropouche. During the exercise, Officers seized counterfeit clothing items bearing the logos of internationally-recognized brands, counterfeit cellular accessories, uncertified electrical items, defective imported matches and unregistered pharmaceutical products, including male enhancement pills and supplements.

Several electrical, fire and occupational safety breaches were also detected at the establishment, and the proprietor was warned and instructed to rectify the deficiencies within a specified timeframe.

At approximately 2:05 PM, Officers proceeded to another supermarket located at Pepper Village, Fyzabad, where additional illicit cigarettes, counterfeit apparel, uncertified electrical products and unregistered pharmaceutical items were discovered and seized.

Investigators also identified multiple fire and safety violations at the establishment, including locked emergency exits, exposed electrical wiring and the absence of a fire safety certificate. Notices were issued to the proprietor for corrective action.

At approximately 4:00 PM, Officers of the Multi-Agency Task Force, assisted by the South Western Division Task Force, executed a search warrant at a residence located at Eric Joseph Street, Mon Desir Road, Dow Village, based on information received regarding the suspected storage of illicit tobacco products.

Investigations are ongoing into the origin and distribution of the seized items. Authorities are also pursuing potential offences under the Tobacco Control Act, Trademark Act and Standards Act.

Officials from the Chemistry Food and Drugs Division have warned that several of the seized male enhancement products may contain unsafe and unregulated chemical substances, including Sildenafil, which can pose serious health risks when abused or used improperly.

The co-ordinated exercise involved personnel from the TTPS Multi-Agency Task Force and South Western Division Task Force, Ministry of Health – Chemistry Food and Drugs Division, Ministry of Finance – Customs and Excise Division, Ministry of Trade and Industry – Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards, Ministry of Labour – OSHA Division, TTFS Fire Prevention Division, and the Ministry of Public Utilities – Government Electrical Inspectorate. Overall supervision was conducted by DCP Intelligence and Investigations, Natasha George.

The Media Release concluded by saying, “The TTPS and its partner agencies remain committed to removing illicit and unsafe products from circulation and safeguarding the health and safety of all citizens.”

22-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In Morvant — Face Disfigured In Hail of Bullets

A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident in Morvant early this morning (Tuesday 8th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Tylan Hinkson, aka “Papa,”of Redwood Street, Morvant. His face was said to have been disfigured in a hail of bullets from a high-powered weapon. According to reports, Hinkson was ambushed and shot near Second Caledonia Road, in the vicinity of Juman, during the early morning hours. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Officers found Hinkson lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds about the body, including severe injuries to his face, hands and legs. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced Hinkson dead at the scene. Police have not yet established a motive for this murder. A man is dead and another listed in serious condition at Hospital following a horrific road traffic accident in Cocorite on Wednesday night (9th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Binyameen Rahaman of Warren Road, Cunupia. Missing Elderly Man Found Dead Under Suitcases At House In Curepe — Police Investigating

The body of a missing pensioner was found under large suitcases at a house in Curepe on Monday afternoon (7th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 75-year-old Chunilal Bandoo of Mohammed Lane, Mc Inroy Street, Curepe. He was the father of a daughter, who resides in the United States. A man wanted for extortion is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Carapichaima early Thursday morning (10th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Riyad Sean Ali of Orangefield Settlement, Carapichaima. His elderly mother and brother were reportedly detained and firearms seized at the scene. BODY of Woman Found Inside Abandoned Security Booth In San Fernando — Police Investigating

The decomposing body of a woman was found inside an abandoned security booth on the compound of an old panyard in San Fernando on Wednesday morning (16th September, 2026). While unconfirmed, the deceased is believed to be Marcia Thomas Singh, who residents said appeared to be in her 60s. She had been apparently residing in the security booth for some time.
