44 Undocumented Immigrants Detained During Anti-Crime Exercise In Princes Town

Forty-four (44) undocumented immigrants have been detained following a co-ordinated anti-crime operation conducted by the Southern Division Task Force (SDTF) on Saturday (29th March, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the exercise, conducted between 6:00 PM and 11:30 PM, targeted a premises located at Malgretoute Village, Princes Town, which was reportedly being used for illegal gambling activities, including cockfighting. Upon entry by Officers, a large number of individuals attempted to flee the location, with some persons jumping from the second floor of the building. Despite these efforts, Officers successfully detained several individuals, including the forty-four (44) foreign nationals, who are now being held, pending further immigration enquiries. TWO (2) Police Officers Charged For Kidnapping, Soliciting $20,000 From Victim

Two (2) Police Officers have been arrested and formally charged following an investigation conducted by the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) into allegations of misconduct. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the Officers, Police Constable (PC) Stefano Haban and Police Constable (PC) Jalani Prima, were charged on Monday (30th March, 2026) with multiple offences of misbehaviour in public office. The charges arise out of a report made on 16th March, 2026, concerning an incident which allegedly occurred on 14th March, 2026, along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, in the vicinity of Mausica. According to reports, a motorist was stopped by Officers in a marked Police vehicle and, after complying with requests for his documents, was informed that he was driving a stolen vehicle. BODY of Man Found At Bottom of Steep Hill In Concordia, Tobago

The body of a man was discovered in McKenna Vale, Concordia, Tobago, earlier today (Tuesday 31st March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Kareem Hughes, aka Akeil Garcia of Mt. Grace, Tobago. His identity was confirmed by relatives at the scene.  According to reports, Hughes was found lying face-down in a pool of water at the bottom of a steep hill along McKenna Vale, Concordia. Police were immediately notified and responded to the scene. Following the brutal murder of 28-year-old cricketer, Rashme Deoajit, at her home in Granville, Cedros, on 17th March, 2026, a suspect known to the victim has been arrested. According to reports, the suspect, a 47-year-old man, was detained on Saturday night (28th March, 2026) in Couva and is currently assisting Police with their investigations. Deoajit, a well-known cricketer with the Players Sports Club in Princes Town, was found dead at her home, located along Tat Trace, Granville, Cedros, on 17th March, 2026. She was last seen alive hours prior to her body being discovered later that day by a concerned relative, who reportedly entered the house by climbing through a window.  Deoajit was found in a bedroom with her throat slit and multiple stab wounds. Driver Killed On Northbound Highway After Out-of-Control Pickup Crosses Median, Crashes Into His Car

Burnt Remains of 82-Year-Old Man Found Near Home In Valencia — Police Investigating

The burnt remains of an elderly man was found near his home in Valencia on Friday afternoon (27th March, 2026). The deceased is believed to be 82-year-old James Le Carde of Alexis Circular, Plantation Road, Valencia. According to reports, two (2) women visited the residence along Alexis Circular, Plantation Road, as part of a routine check on the pensioner. However, upon arrival, they reportedly found the back door of the home wide open, with a trail of blood leading approximately forty (40) feet away from the home, to an open area. The elderly man was nowhere to be found and all efforts to contact him proved futile. Further reports state that inside the home, a pile of clothing was observed lying on top of what appeared to be a large pool of blood in the dining area. 36-Year-Old Prisons Officer Dies In Highway Crash In San Fernando; Site of Similar Fatalities

A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway in San Fernando on Friday morning (27th March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Prisons Officer, Keston Crooks of Rock River Road, St. Helena. The site of the crash adds to a series of tragic accidents along the stretch above the Cipero River. According to reports, Crooks lost control of his Toyota motor vehicle (PCY 2336) and crashed into the median of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, near C3 Centre, shortly before 12:00 PM. The vehicle sustained extensive damage. Police, Fire and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene.  Crooks was extracted from the vehicle and rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital for emergency medical treatment, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries. TTPS Urging Landlords To Conduct Proper Screening of Tenants, After Elderly Woman Kidnapped In San Juan

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is urging landlords in Trinidad and Tobago to consider risk management, legal compliance and proper screening when leasing their property. This follows the kidnapping of an elderly female landlord from her home in San Juan on Wednesday night (25th March, 2026), by one of her tenants and his accomplices. The woman was thankfully rescued several hours later from a vessel at sea during a co-ordinated intelligence-led operation. The TTPS notes that, “A strong vetting process upfront (especially Certificate of Character and Immigration checks) will save you serious stress, legal costs and property damage later.” Follow these safety tips when leasing property: Conduct background checks on potential tenants. Police Drone Assists 60-Year-Old Lost Hiker Out of Northern Range

A 60-year-old male hiker in distress was assisted by personnel of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) Coastal and Air Support Unit, in making his way out of the Northern Range last night (Thursday 26th March, 2026). According to the TTPS, the Unit received a distress call from the hiker, around 7:00 PM, and quickly sprang into action, conducting a joint and co-ordinated search effort, with the assistance of the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service’s Santa Cruz Search and Rescue Team.  The hiker, who was eventually spotted, was guided to safety using Police drone technology.  ASP (Ag.) Rampallard is advising hikers to do proper planning before going on hikes, to share their routes and expected return times with others and carry essentials like water, a charged phone and identification. The Ministry of Health, via its Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division (CFDD), is advising the public of a voluntary recall of Rosabella Moringa capsules, initiated by Ambrosia Brands LLC in February 2026. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States of America, Rosebella Moringa capsules have been linked to multiple cases of drug-resistant Salmonella infections. Illness caused by Salmonella infection usually develops within twelve (12) to seventy-two (72) hours and can last for four (4) to seven (7) days. In a Media Release today (Friday 27th March, 2026), the Ministry said, “The most common symptoms include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps. A Police Officer is dead after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in Maloney on Thursday morning (26th March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Police Constable Boochan (No. 17621), who was last assigned to the Piarco Police Station. He was reportedly on vacation leave at the time and undergoing dialysis treatment. A man is dead and three (3) others wounded, including a 14-year-old boy, following a shooting incident in Belmont last night (Thursday 26th March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Kemar Miller, also known as “Jamaikie” of Belmont Valley Road, Belmont. According to reports, Miller was sitting on an empty beer case with three (3) friends on Davis Street, when a grey Nissan AD wagon drove past them, around 9:00 PM. The Ministry of Education said 17,573 students were registered to write the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) examination on Thursday (26th March, 2026), at 547 centres nationwide. This cohort comprised 8,885 males and 8,688 females, across eight (8) educational districts. In a Media Release following the examination on Thursday, the Ministry said Dr. the Honourable Michael Dowlath, Minister of Education, “extends congratulations to all candidates, as well as sincere appreciation to the personnel responsible for the successful administration of the examination.” According to Minister Dowlath, “On behalf of the Ministry of Education, I commend all students who sat the SEA 2026 examination today [Thursday]. Netflix Once Again Increases Prices For ALL Plans; Premium Hits US $27 Per Month

Streaming giant Netflix is once again increasing its prices, with all plans set to receive a hike of US $1 to US $2, effective from today (Thursday 26th March, 2026) for both new and existing subscribers. According to reports, the ad-supported plan is now US $8.99 per month , up from US $7.99/month, while the Standard plan is US $19.99 per month , up from US $17.99 per month. Meanwhile, the company's most expensive Premium plan is US $26.99 per month , up from US $24.99 per month. Extra member add-on pricing is also increasing by US $1. New members will see the higher prices today, with the pricing rolling out to existing subscribers in the coming weeks. Subscribers will receive an alert one (1) month before the new prices are applied to them. TTPS Public Advisory: Protests In Vicinity of Police Stations

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said it “acknowledges and respects the constitutional right of all citizens to engage in peaceful assembly and to express their views in a lawful and responsible manner.” However, the TTPS is advising members of the public that Police Stations are “critical operational facilities, responsible for the detention of persons, the safeguarding of evidence, and the co-ordination of emergency responses.” In a Media Release on Wednesday (25th March, 2026), the TTPS said, “In this regard, any gathering or protest activity in the vicinity of a Police Station must be conducted in strict compliance with the laws of Trinidad and Tobago.” Persons and groups are reminded that according to the Summary Offences Act , Chap 11:02 - Public Marches and Processions: 112.
