Police Constable Struck Dead While Trying To Cross Highway In Maloney; Vehicle Driven By Fellow Officer

A Police Officer is dead after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in Maloney on Thursday morning (26th March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Police Constable Boochan (No. 17621), who was last assigned to the Piarco Police Station. He was reportedly on vacation leave at the time and undergoing dialysis treatment.

According to reports, Boochan was attempting to cross the Eastbound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, in the vicinity of the Maloney traffic lights, when he came into contact with a dark gray Subaru Impreza, driven by a fellow Officer attached to the Highway Patrol unit, around 6:30 AM.

Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded. However, Boochan succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

A District Medical Officer (DMO) also visited and ordered the body removed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope, pending a post-mortem examination.

The accident is said to have caused a major traffic pile-up along the Highway.

Investigations are continuing into the tragic accident by Officers of the Maloney Police Station.
