Man Shot Dead In Siparia, Woman Wounded — Police Investigating Possible Drug Turf War
A man is dead and a woman wounded following a shooting incident in Siparia on Thursday (16th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Akeil Packet, also known as “Shaka.” He was killed just weeks after his brother was also murdered in Siparia.
According to reports, gunmen alighted from a vehicle and opened fire on Packet, who was at his shop, located along Railway Road, Siparia. During the attack, a female was also wounded.
Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. However, Packet succumbed to his injuries. The unidentified woman was conveyed to Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The vehicle believed to have been used by the gunmen was later found abandoned along Coora Road, Siparia, and has since been seized as part of the investigation.
Investigators believe the killing may be linked to an escalating drug turf war in the Siparia district.
Packet’s murder comes less than a month after his brother, 39-year-old Osei Packet, also known as “Danqua,” was shot and killed in a brutal double murder at Taylor Avenue, Quinam Road, Siparia, on Friday 19th June, 2026, which also claimed the life of Nicholas Mark of Tobago.
Detectives are now examining whether the brothers’ murders are connected as they continue efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact the Homicide Bureau, Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS, or the nearest Police Station.
Investigations are continuing.
More on this as it becomes available.
