Firearms, TTPS-Engraved Ammunition, Cannabis Seized — 2 Men Arrested

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), two (2) men were arrested, two (2) firearms and quantities of ammunition, including TTPS-engraved rounds, were seized, while cannabis was also recovered during an intelligence-led “Operation R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E.” exercise conducted by Officers of the Central Division Task Force (Area South).

The TTPS said between Friday (17th July, 2026) and Saturday (18th July, 2026), Officers conducted roving roadblock exercises at Railway Road, Couva; Greig Street, Balmain, Couva; Pranz Gardens, Claxton Bay; and Southern Main Road, California.

While at a bar and lounge along Southern Main Road, California, Officers searched a 40-year-old man of East Boundary Street, California, Couva. During the search, Officers allegedly found a .38 Smith & Wesson Special revolver concealed in a shoulder bag being carried by the suspect. The firearm contained five (5) rounds of 9mm ammunition, each bearing TTPS markings on the percussion cap.

Also at the establishment, Officers searched a 32-year-old man of Ridgewood Gardens, Golconda, San Fernando, after observing him acting suspiciously with a backpack. The search allegedly resulted in the discovery of a Palmetto Dagger Compact 9mm pistol, fitted with a magazine containing seventeen (17) rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Both men informed Officers that they were not holders of a Firearm User’s Licence (FUL), Firearm User’s Employee Certificate, Gunsmith Licence, nor were they exempted under Section 7 of the Firearms Act. They were subsequently arrested.

Officers later conducted a search of the residence of one of the suspects under the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2026, where they allegedly discovered an additional twenty-eight (28) rounds of TTPS-marked 9mm ammunition and approximately 268 grams of cannabis.

The exercise was co-ordinated by ACP Remy, Senior Superintendent Bhagwandeen, Superintendent Frank, Inspector Rampersad and Sgt. Samuel, and led by Ag./Cpl. Joseph, with Officers of the Central Division Task Force (Area South).

Investigations are continuing.

A woman has been charged with the murder of   Chaguanas businessman Gregory Reece , who was stabbed to death at her apartment in Woodford Gardens on Sunday 28th June, 2026. TWO (2) Suspects Arrested Following Armed Robbery At Chaguanas Mini-Mart

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a man and a woman were arrested and a firearm recovered, following a co-ordinated Police response to an armed robbery at a mini-mart in Chaguanas this afternoon (Friday 17th July, 2026). At approximately 12:55 PM, Officers of the Central Division Task Force (Area North) responded to a report of a robbery with aggravation at a mini-mart, located along La Clave Street, Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas. The TTPS said preliminary enquiries revealed that two (2) suspects arrived at the business establishment in a silver Toyota Aqua. 31-Year-Old Missing Woman Found Alive In Mayaro — Taken For Medical Treatment

UPDATE (06/07/26): Shahnaaz Ali has told Police that she was kidnapped, drugged and tortured before being left abandoned near a beach in Mayaro. Police have since launched an investigation into the alleged kidnapping as enquiries continue. Shahnaaz Ali, the 31-year-old woman who was found in Mayaro the day after she failed to return home from work in Port-of-Spain , has told Police that she was kidnapped, drugged and tortured before being left abandoned near a beach in Mayaro. Venezuelan Woman Stabbed To Death By Boyfriend During Confrontation At Chaguanas Home

UPDATE (12/07/26): Police have launched a manhunt for the 23-year-old boyfriend of Kelimar Del Jesus Duran Morillo, following her fatal stabbing early Saturday morning. The incident unfolded just hours after Morillo and her on-and-off boyfriend of three (3) years attended his birthday celebration at his parents’ home in Endeavour, Chaguanas. 42-Year-Old Man Killed When Panel Van Crashes Into Truck Along Caparo Valley Brasso Road

A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road this morning (Saturday 4th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Jason Ramnanan of Caparo. According to reports, Ramnanan was driving a white panel van when it collided with a green and yellow waste disposal truck (TCJ 1195) near the Santa Phillipa Bridge along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road, around 9:00 AM.
