The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation is advising the public that the Online Driver’s Licence Renewal Service will be temporarily unavailable today (Thursday 30th July, 2026), from 6:00 PM to 11:59 PM, due to scheduled maintenance. The Ministry said it apologizes for any inconvenience caused and “appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as this maintenance is carried out to support improved service delivery.” Please be guided accordingly.

Caribbean Airlines Issues Guidance On Travelling With Lithium Batteries And Power Banks

For the safety of all customers and crew, Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL) is advising passengers of the following guidelines when travelling with lithium batteries, electronic devices and power banks: Power banks are NOT permitted in checked baggage. They must be carried in your carry-on baggage only and must not be used or recharged onboard the aircraft. Electronic devices such as phones, tablets, laptops and cameras should be carried in your carry-on baggage. Spare lithium batteries must: Be individually protected to prevent short circuits. Be kept in carry-on baggage only. Not be loose inside bags. E-cigarettes and vapes are permitted in carry-on baggage only and must not be used or charged onboard. Customers are reminded that lithium batteries and power banks must not exceed 100Wh unless otherwise approved by the airline. Ministry of Homeland Security Clarifies Passport Transition, Assures Continued Passport Services

The Ministry of Homeland Security said it has noted recent media reports regarding the availability of Passports in Trinidad and Tobago. “While public scrutiny is important, several claims contained in those reports are inaccurate, incomplete and fail to present the full picture of the Ministry’s ongoing Passport modernization programme.” In a Media Release issued last week, on 7th July, 2026, the Ministry said it “wishes to make it absolutely clear that Trinidad and Tobago is not running out of machine-readable Passports, and citizens can continue to apply for and receive Passports as normal. New e-Passport System Should Be Online By 1st January, 2027

According to Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, the new e-Passport system is expected to come online within a matter of months, as he put forward a tentative timeline of early 2027 for the system to be rolled out. Speaking with reporters at the launch of a barbering programme at his Tunapuna Constituency Office on El Dorado Road on Monday (13th July, 2026), Minister Alexander said while he could not commit to a specific timeline, he anticipated that the system should be ready for use by 1st January, 2027. He said the e-Passport system was important to enhance efficiencies within the Immigration Division, while ensuring a higher degree of security was observed. Minister Alexander also insisted that there were currently enough machine-readable Passport booklets for the public, despite not being able to quote the exact number in stock as of Monday. T&T Government Seeking To Upgrade Machine Readable Passports To Electronic Passports

The Ministry of Homeland Security is inviting Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified entities for the upgrade of the Passport Issuing and Control System (PICS) to an e-Passport platform. The Ministry said on Monday (25th May, 2026) that the intent of this Expression of Interest (EOI) is to “identify private and public sector entities that would be interested in providing the service to Upgrade the Passport Issuing and Control System from Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) to Electronic Passport (e-Passport) Issuing and Control System for the Immigration Division, Ministry of Homeland Security (MHS), Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.” The Ministry notes that it will “carefully review all submissions to ensure that entities possess the necessary resources, expertise and experience to provide this service. Netflix Once Again Increases Prices For ALL Plans; Premium Hits US $27 Per Month

Streaming giant Netflix is once again increasing its prices, with all plans set to receive a hike of US $1 to US $2, effective from today (Thursday 26th March, 2026) for both new and existing subscribers. According to reports, the ad-supported plan is now US $8.99 per month , up from US $7.99/month, while the Standard plan is US $19.99 per month , up from US $17.99 per month. Meanwhile, the company's most expensive Premium plan is US $26.99 per month , up from US $24.99 per month. Extra member add-on pricing is also increasing by US $1. New members will see the higher prices today, with the pricing rolling out to existing subscribers in the coming weeks. Homeland Security, TATT Sign Memorandum of Understanding To Strengthen Cyber Security Cooperation

In a significant step toward strengthening Trinidad and Tobago's digital security and resilience, the Ministry of Homeland Security and the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cyber Security Cooperation on Friday (13th March, 2026). In a Media Release, the Ministry said, “The MOU establishes a framework for cooperation between the Ministry of Homeland Security, through the Trinidad and Tobago Cyber Security Incident Response Team (TT-CSIRT), and the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT), an agency under the Ministry of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence (MPAAI). T&T Online Arrival/Departure (AD) Form Now Live

Effective from Tuesday 17th March, 2026, all passengers landing in and departing from Piarco International and ANR International Airports, Trinidad and Tobago, are advised that the completion of an online immigration and customs form will be in effect. In a Notice issued today (Saturday 14th March, 2026), Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL) advises that passengers arriving into and departing from Trinidad and Tobago from Tuesday 17th March, 2026 are required to complete their Arrival/Departure (AD) form using the website: https://travel.gov.tt . The form is now live, ahead of the full launch on Tuesday. Digital forms may be completed within seventy-two (72) hours of arrival or departure. CAL notes that Airport Customer Service Representatives will be on hand to provide support with completing the form and offer any additional guidance required. Please be guided accordingly.

Online Immigration Form Testing At Piarco International Airport On Saturday

Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL) is advising that passengers travelling on Saturday (14th March, 2026) on specific flights , will be required to complete the T&T digital Arrival/Departure (AD) form via https://travel.gov.tt as authorities at the Airport are testing the online immigration and customs platform. In a Notice issued today (Thursday 12th March, 2026), CAL said the link will be accessible from Saturday (14th March, 2026) and passengers on these test flights are to complete their AD forms on the date of travel. The specific Caribbean Airlines flights are as follows: BW 527 and BW 431 arriving at POS. BW 240 departing POS. Caribbean Airlines notes that the digital process is being piloted; therefore, passengers will still be required to complete the paper immigration form until the digital process is fully on stream. Telecommunications provider Bmobile said it is aware that some mobile customers are unable to access data services at this time. In a Service Advisory issued at approximately 7:15 PM tonight (Saturday 21st February, 2026), the company said, “We are aware that some of our mobile customers are currently unable to access data services. Government Considering Legislation To Regulate Social Media Use For Children Under Age 12

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago is prepared to consider legislation to regulate social media use for children under the age of twelve (12). This was revealed by Prime Minister the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, in a statement issued on X late last night (Tuesday 20th January, 2026). According to the Prime Minister, “I have taken note of media reports in which Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon called for laws to protect children from the predatory dangers of social media. His concerns are valid. Our children must be safeguarded from harm. However, any blanket ban on adults would amount to an unacceptable encroachment on freedom of speech and expression. An online immigration and customs form will be officially launching soon in Trinidad and Tobago for persons flying in and out of the country. This marks a significant shift away from traditional paper forms to a digital system for immigration and customs processing. The new Trinidad and Tobago Online Arrival/Departure Platform — available at  travel.gov.tt — went live temporarily on Sunday (21st December, 2025), but as of today (Tuesday 23rd December, 2025), visiting the link shows the following message: “Launching soon! By the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.” The website previously said all passengers are required to complete the online immigration and customs form, which will be available seventy-two (72) hours prior to their arrival/departure. Nvidia Becomes First $5 TRILLION Company In Human History

Nvidia  ( NVDA )  just became the world’s first $5 trillion company, reaching the unprecedented milestone at the opening of the stock market today (Wednesday 29th October, 2025). This comes just three (3) months after the company crossed the $4 trillion mark, in July. Nvidia previously took about thirteen (13) months to move from $3 trillion to $4 trillion in valuation. The company’s market valuation has propelled into the stratosphere due to skyrocketing demand for its AI chips, which are essential to powering the data centers that run the technology.
