The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Maracas, Blanchisseuse, Bamboo #2 and San Fernando on Tuesday (6th October, 2026). 43-Year-Old Man Charged With Attempted Murder Following Cutlass Attack In Penal

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a 43-year-old man was charged with attempted murder following an early morning incident at Platanite Trace, Penal, on Sunday 21st September, 2026. The TTPS said the accused, McLean Sotio, of Platanite Trace, Penal, was arrested on Monday 28th September, 2026 and subsequently charged. Reports state that around 12:05 AM on Sunday 21st September, 2026, the victim, a 34-year-old man, was at his residence at Spring Trace, Platanite Trace, Penal, when three (3) men known to him, with whom he had an altercation earlier that night, allegedly forced open the front door and entered the house. The men, who were allegedly armed with cutlasses, pursued the victim into his bedroom, where they allegedly held him down and struck him with the cutlasses, causing chop wounds about his body. Tropical Wave Nears T&T: Met Office Issues Adverse Weather Alert For FOUR (4) Hours This Afternoon

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has issued an Adverse Weather Alert (Yellow Level) for four (4) hours this afternoon (Monday 5th October, 2026). The Alert begins at 1:00 PM and will remain in effect until 5:00 PM for the Western half of Trinidad. According to the Met Office, there is a potential for the combination of local dynamics and a Tropical Wave to produce impactful weather during the afternoon. The most impactful weather will likely favour Western areas of Trinidad. However, showers and isolated thunderstorms are still possible for other parts of both islands. Impacts Heavy downpours can result in street/flash flooding. Landslips may occur in areas that are susceptible. Gusty winds may also accompany heavy downpours. Instructions Motorists and residents in areas prone to flooding or landslides should remain alert and exercise caution. Beretta And Ammunition Seized In Maloney Gardens

An intelligence-based operation conducted in the Northern North Division resulted in the seizure of a firearm and ammunition on Friday (2nd October, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), between the hours of 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM, acting on information received, Officers proceeded to Maloney Gardens, where a search was conducted. During the search, Officers found a black and silver Beretta firearm fitted with a magazine, along with two (2) rounds of 9mm ammunition, concealed in the washroom area. Police Constable Solozano is continuing enquiries. The TTPS said the operation was co-ordinated by Senior Superintendent Frank, Superintendent McKenzie and Assistant Superintendent Balewa, and spearheaded by Inspector Mascall and Acting Sergeant Foster. The operation was directly supervised by Corporal Romany, along with members of the Northern North Central Division Task Force.

This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works — 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.   According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Matura are as follows:  Toco Main Road from LP #83 to LP #79, inclusive of Albert Trace. T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by these interruptions.

42-Year-Old Man Accused of Church Sacrilege In Moruga Denied Bail

Officers of the Moruga Police Station have charged a 42-year-old man with sacrilege following an incident at a church in La Lune, Moruga, on Sunday 27th September, 2026, in which he was allegedly caught in the process of committing the offence. The matter was heard at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (1st October, 2026). The accused was not called upon to plead and bail was denied. The matter was adjourned to 23rd March, 2027 for a status hearing. According to reports, the La Lune Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at La Lune Road, Moruga, was secured and locked on Sunday 27th September, 2026, with the exception of an entrance on the Eastern side of the building, which was inadvertently left unlocked. Car Plunges Into Cunupia River — 1 Dead, 2 Critical; Police Investigating

UPDATE: The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Joel Farfan of Brazil and Mt. Pleasant, Arima. The two (2) other occupants of the car remain in critical condition at this time. Reports state that Farfan had attended an event hosted by his cousin, who operates an event-rental pool business and car-rental business. Farfan was reportedly asked by his cousin to use one of the rental vehicles to transport two (2) women to their homes before the fatal crash occurred. Newly released CCTV footage shows the car swerving to the right and then turning sharply to the left, before crashing through a railing and into the flowing river below. Farfan’s parents were said to have been attending church when they received news that their son had been involved in the accident. Firearm, Cutlass Seized Following Attempted Bar Robbery In Marabella; 2 Men Held

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), t wo (2) men were detained and a firearm and cutlass seized following an attempted robbery at a bar in Marabella, early this morning (Saturday 3rd October, 2026). The TTPS said the proprietor of a bar, located along Union Road, Marabella, was conducting business when two (2) men entered the establishment and announced a robbery, around 12:29 AM. The men ordered the patrons to lie on the floor, while one of the suspects pointed what appeared to be a firearm at the proprietor and attempted to gain access to an area of the bar. However, the gate was secured. The men subsequently left the establishment without taking anything of value. Family Beaten, Tied Up, Robbed Over $11,000 In Cash In Kelly Village Home Invasion

A family of four (4) has been left traumatized following a violent home invasion and robbery in Kelly Village, Caroni, early Thursday morning (1st October, 2026). According to reports, one of the victims was in the garage of the home, located along La Solita Road, Kelly Village, Caroni, when he was approached by an assailant armed with a large wrench, around 4:20 AM. The victim was reportedly choked and dealt several blows about the body with the wrench before being taken inside the house. The other occupants were then removed from a bathroom and two (2) bedrooms. Their hands were bound using clothing while the suspects ransacked the house. The first victim was robbed of $3,000 in cash and other personal items. Another victim was robbed of $5,250 in cash and cellphone. TWO (2) Arima Men Charged With Murder of Businessman Azard Pooran

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), two (2) Arima men have appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with the murder of prominent businessman, Azard Pooran , which occurred earlier this year, on 2nd March, 2026. The TTPS said Renaldo Thomas, 39 and Bradley Taitt , 26, both of Arima, were also charged with possession of firearm and possession of ammunition, when they appeared before Master Raydon Dalrymple-Watts, at the High Court, Criminal Division, on Wednesday 23rd September, 2026. The Sufficiency Hearing date was set for 6th April, 2027. Thomas is also facing a second murder case for the killing of another businessman, Bhyman “Bobby” Madhoo . 63-Year-Old Poultry Businessman Shot Dead In Aripero, San Fernando; Another Man Wounded

A businessman man is dead and another man wounded following a brutal shooting incident in Aripero, San Fernando, this afternoon (Friday 2nd October, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 63-year-old Rasif Mohammed, owner of Fowl Play poultry shop in Aripero. Mohammed reportedly survived a shooting incident last year on the same business compound where he was killed today. According to reports, Mohammed arrived on the compound of Fowl Play in a silver Nissan Y12 wagon, accompanied by his son-in-law, identified as 24-year-old Jimmy Balack, when gunmen opened fire on the vehicle, shortly after 12:00 PM. Both men sustained gunshot injuries. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. The wounded men were conveyed to the San Fernando General Hospital, where Mohammed was subsequently pronounced dead. FOUR (4) Men Held For Stealing Electricity Cables Valued at $186,000

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), four (4) men were arrested on Wednesday (30th September, 2026) in connection with the theft of electricity cables. The theft reportedly resulted in the loss of electricity in several areas. The TTPS said Officers assigned to the Cumuto Police Station received two (2) reports of larceny cable last week along the Elmina Clarke Highway. The stolen cables were valued at $186,000. Following the reports, a party of Officers conducted a surveillance exercise on Monday (28th September, 2026) and Tuesday (29th September, 2026). The TTPS said during the exercise on Tuesday, Officers, acting on intelligence, took up strategic positions along the Elmina Clarke Highway. Chopped Up BODY Found In Claxton Bay Dump — Police On The Scene

UPDATE 2:  According to the latest reports, the gruesome discovery was made shortly before 12:00 PM on Friday, when a truck arrived at the Claxton Bay landfill to offload shredded material from a company in a large metal waste bin. However, when the bin was raised to release its contents, the lids of several white “pigtail” buckets opened, spilling what appeared to be human remains. Fingers were reportedly clearly visible among the material. The remains, found in approximately five (5) buckets, appeared to have been chopped up into pieces, possibly by machinery, before being placed inside the buckets. Police were alerted and Officers from the Couva Criminal Investigations Department (CID) responded to the scene. The remains were subsequently removed from the site, around 3:00 PM. It is unclear at this time exactly how many bodies were chopped up before they were taken to be dumped in the landfill. Desalcott Shutdown: Revised Schedules For Central And South Trinidad

UPDATE (03/10/26): WASA said its executive team toured the Desalcott facility on Friday (2nd October, 2026) for an on-site update on the annual planned maintenance shutdown. Crews have been working around the clock to keep the project on track for the October 4th completion, while truck-borne water services were deployed to support affected areas across Central and South Trinidad. WASA notes that teams are actively monitoring the system and carrying out the necessary works to support the reliability of the water supply. BODY of 68-Year-Old Man Found Inside Rental Home In Gasparillo — Police Investigating

The decomposing body of a man was found inside his rental home in Gasparillo on Wednesday afternoon (30th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 68-year-old Eugene Junior Weekes.  According to reports, a female landlord went to the home to collect the monthly rent, but received no response when she called out to Weekes. She then noticed a foul stench emanating from the house, prompting her to contact the Gasparillo Police Station, around 4:00 PM. Upon arrival at the property, Officers also detected the strong odour and, after getting no response from inside the locked house, gained entry by forcing open the front door. Weekes was found lying on a couch in the living room, clad only in a grey boxers. His body was reportedly in an advanced state of decomposition. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who examined the body and pronounced Weekes dead. T&TEC Working To Restore Service In Santa Cruz After Fallen Tree Causes Outage

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) said it is currently responding to an electricity outage affecting parts of Santa Cruz this afternoon (Thursday 1st October, 2026). After a torrential downpour, the saturated soil resulted in a large tree being uprooted, at approximately 12:55 PM, along Saddle Road, Santa Cruz, in the vicinity of the School for the Blind. T&TEC notes that tree-trimming and overhead line repair crews are on site carrying out restoration activities. While the electricity has already been restored to several affected customers, T&TEC said the fallen tree damaged two (2) utility poles beyond repair. Both poles must be replaced before full restoration can be completed. T&TEC is working to restore service to customers in New Pax Vale, Hololo Road and Jaggan Village by 7:00 PM tonight. TTPS Investigating Viral Domestic Abuse Video; Encourages Victims To Speak Up

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said it is aware of a video circulating on social media which shows a man seated in a vehicle, verbally and physically abusing and threatening a woman in the passenger seat. In a Media Release on Wednesday (30th September, 2026), the TTPS said a report has been made at the Couva Police Station and Officers of the Special Victims Unit, Region 2 have launched an investigation. No. 19042 WPC Persad is leading that investigation. The TTPS notes that statements are being recorded, and the matter is receiving its full attention. 68-Year-Old Man Stabbed To Death By Son During Dispute At Morvant Home

A man is dead following a stabbing incident in Morvant on Wednesday afternoon (30th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 68-year-old Kerwin Mark of Angelina Terrace, Morvant. He was allegedly stabbed to death by his son. According to reports, Mark was attacked and stabbed at his home during a heated argument with his son, shortly after 12:30 PM. The suspect, who is said to be a patient at the Wellness Centre in Barataria, was seen leaving the residence shortly before the violent incident occurred. Residents were alerted about the stabbing by a relative and assisted in removing Mark from the house. He was placed into a motor vehicle and rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (POSGH) for emergency medical treatment. Police were also notified and responded.
