FOUR (4) Men Held For Stealing Electricity Cables Valued at $186,000
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), four (4) men were arrested on Wednesday (30th September, 2026) in connection with the theft of electricity cables. The theft reportedly resulted in the loss of electricity in several areas.
The TTPS said Officers assigned to the Cumuto Police Station received two (2) reports of larceny cable last week along the Elmina Clarke Highway.
The stolen cables were valued at $186,000.
Following the reports, a party of Officers conducted a surveillance exercise on Monday (28th September, 2026) and Tuesday (29th September, 2026). The TTPS said during the exercise on Tuesday, Officers, acting on intelligence, took up strategic positions along the Elmina Clarke Highway. Shortly thereafter, they observed a black Nissan X-Trail with four (4) occupants driving along the Highway.
The party of Officers intercepted the vehicle and, during a subsequent search, found an assortment of tools, wire cutters, bolt cutters, hacksaw blades, pliers and knives hidden inside.
A 25-year-old Manzanilla man, along with a 28-year-old, and two (2) 29-year-old men, all from Sangre Grande, were arrested.
Investigations are ongoing.
