The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of Freeport on Thursday (11th June, 2026). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works — 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.   According to T&TEC, the affected areas in Freeport are as follows:  From LP #A52 heading East up to LP #83A along Freeport Village Road then unto Arena Road up to LP #A136 and all associated side streets, inclusive of La Cuesa Road, Raphael Road and Uquire Road. T&TEC says it regrets the inconvenience which may be caused by these interruptions.

A 26-year-old man of Beach Road, Palo Seco, is to be charged with murder following investigations surrounding the death of 12-year-old Mercedes Layne of Los Iros Road, Erin, who was reported missing on Saturday 6th June, 2026, and whose body was subsequently discovered along Carapal Road, Erin, on Sunday 7th June, 2026.  In a Media Release a short while ago this afternoon (Wednesday 10th June, 2026), the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said investigations were conducted by Officers of the Homicide Bureau and advice was received today from Special Advisor Ms. Honore Paul, to charge the suspect, who is due to appear before a Master of the High Court on Thursday (11th June, 2026). A man has died from injuries sustained in a shooting incident in Curepe on 29th May, 2026, after remaining hospitalized for several days. The deceased has been identified as 54-year-old Inshan Goolsir of Abdool Lane, Curepe. He was allegedly shot by his sister’s boyfriend during a confrontation involving a land dispute.  Goolsir succumbed to his injuries at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope on Saturday (6th June, 2026). According to reports, Officers were alerted to a shooting at Abdool Lane, Southern Main Road, Curepe, around 10:30 PM on Friday 29th May, 2026. Upon arrival, they found Goolsir lying inside a drain surrounded by residents. The victim appeared to have fallen onto a water pipe, causing water to spray around him as he lay wounded and moaning in pain. The charred remains of a man was found in Wallerfield on Sunday (7th June, 2026). The deceased is believed to be Clint Gomez, also known by the alias “Milky,” as official confirmation is pending. According to reports, the body was found inside a vehicle near Block 5 on Moonan Road. A District Medical Officer (DMO) later ordered the removal of the remains to the Forensic Science Centre in St. James, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Police have not yet released further details. Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the murder. The Ministry of Finance said it has been brought to the attention of the Authority that person(s) bearing fraudulent identification card(s), depicting the logos of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (CBTT), the Financial Intelligence Unit of Trinidad and Tobago (FIUTT) of the Ministry of Finance, and the Financial Investigations Branch (FIB) of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, are presenting themselves to the public as official representative(s) of these entities. The body of a woman was found inside her home in El Socorro on Friday evening (5th June, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Aquilah Rebekah Henry of Oudan Road, El Socorro. She was an employee of the Ministry of National Security, attached to the Police Administration Building as a Clerk II. According to reports, Police and Emergency Health Services responded to a call for assistance at Henry’s residence, shortly after 6:30 PM. Upon arrival, they discovered her unresponsive inside a room of the home, in an apparent suicide. Henry’s father told Officers that he had last seen his daughter earlier that morning. Concerned after not hearing from her throughout the day, he later went to check on her and made the tragic discovery. A 26-year-old man is currently in Police custody as investigators continue enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death of 12-year-old Mercedez Layne of Los Iros, Erin , whose body was discovered earlier today (Sunday 7th June, 2026), hours after she was reported missing. In a Media Release this evening, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said Mercedez was reported missing at approximately 4:00 PM on Saturday (6th June, 2026) by her grandfather, of Lorensotte North Trace, Rancho Quemado. According to the report, around 11:30 AM on the same date, the grandfather placed his granddaughter, who had spent the previous night at his residence, into a vehicle, intended to transport the child to her home at Los Iros Beach Road, Erin. However, information later received indicated that Mercedez never arrived at her destination. According to the Office of the Attorney General, at a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) on Friday evening (5th June, 2026), the Prime Minister and members of the Council received and reviewed reports on the States of Emergency implemented between December 2024 and May 2026. Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) recovered two (2) intact stolen vehicles and one (1) which had been completely stripped, during a co-ordinated anti-crime exercise conducted in the Sangre Grande District on Friday (5th June, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the operation, dubbed “Operation Steady Guard,” was conducted between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM and involved Officers of the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Eastern Division Task Force (EDTF). Acting on intelligence information, Officers proceeded to the Turure Road, Guaico area, where they conducted inquiries in relation to a white Kia K2700 motor vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier that day in Arima. The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) will be conducting overhead line maintenance in the Bamboo Village area , which will necessitate the interruption of the normal flow of traffic. These works are scheduled to take place between 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Friday (5th June, 2026) and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday (7th June, 2026), along the Uriah Butler Highway, between the Bamboo Village Overpass and the Caroni River. Vehicular traffic along the Uriah Butler Highway, Northbound lane (the Westernmost lane), will be affected. A 30-year-old Charlieville man is scheduled to appear before the South District Masters’ Court after investigations revealed that a reported kidnapping was fabricated, resulting in significant Police resources being deployed unnecessarily. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), during an operation conducted between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM on Thursday (4th June, 2026), Officers of the Central Division arrested Daoud Mohammed, 30, of Assaraf Road, Charlieville, Chaguanas, for the offence of wasteful employment of the Police.
