A suspended Police Constable of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has been arrested in connection with allegations of kidnapping and sexual offences against a 20-year-old female victim. In a Media Release on Sunday (28th June, 2026), the TTPS said reports indicate that on 3rd June, 2026, the victim was allegedly forcibly removed from a vehicle by a man who identified himself as a Police Officer, displaying what appeared to be a TTPS Identification Badge. The victim alleges that she was then taken to an unknown location where she was sexually assaulted. A report was made to the Chaguanas Police Station and an investigation launched into the matter. A man was arrested and quantities of illegal ammunition and cannabis seized, following a Police-involved shooting incident in the North Eastern Division last night (Sunday 28th June, 2026). According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), reports indicate that Officers were on mobile patrol around 10:45 PM, when they received information about a suspicious vehicle in the Pax Vale, Santa Cruz district.  The Officers proceeded to the area, where they observed the vehicle, which then sped off. The Officers gave chase with their siren and swivel lights engaged.  Upon reaching Positive Street, an armed occupant alighted from the rear of the vehicle and allegedly fired two (2) shots at the Police vehicle. The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is advising customers that planned maintenance work will affect several areas of St. Ann’s and Central on Tuesday (30th June, 2026). This may result in loss of electricity between the hours of works.  According to T&TEC, the affected areas are as follows:  ST. ANN’S (8:00 AM to 1:00 PM) Along Sydenham Avenue, inclusive of Hutton Road, Terracita Drive, Stewart Hill, Alicia’s Palace, Errol Park Road, the Southern side of Lady Chancellor Road and all associated side streets. A businessman is dead following a stabbing incident at his girlfriend’s apartment in Woodford Gardens, Chaguanas, last night (Sunday 28th June, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Gregory Reece of Lalla Road, Chaguanas. He was the Manager of Trinidad and Tobago Dental. According to reports, Reece went to the 25-year-old woman’s apartment, located at the corner of Oak Avenue and Coconut Drive, Woodford Gardens, sometime before 7:00 PM. Whilst there, he reportedly got into an argument with her, which quickly escalated. Reece was stabbed in his chest during the altercation. Upon hearing the loud commotion, residents contacted the Police and an Ambulance. Officers from the Chaguanas CID were on patrol nearby at the time and responded. A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident outside his home in Brazil this morning (Monday 29th June, 2026). The deceased has been identified as Ronald Ramgooliee of Savannah Drive, Brazil. He was the driver of a 24-seater red-band maxi-taxi (HCS 8485), known as “General.” According to reports, Ramgooliee was ambushed and shot multiple times about the body while near his vehicle, around 6:30 AM. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the location, where Ramgooliee was found lying on the ground outside the maxi-taxi. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet established a motive for this murder. Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. A teenager has drowned while bathing in the waters of Brasso Seco on Sunday afternoon (28th June, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Isiah Estrada of Brazil Village, Arima, who has a twin brother. The Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT), led by Captain Vallence Rambharat, said they received a distress call about a possible drowning in the first Marianne River Gorge, Brasso Seco, around 3:00 PM. Upon arrival at the remote location at 10:00 PM, the team was told that Isiah was bathing with a friend from Brasso Seco when he did not surface. Using specialized equipment, the HSRT was able to recover the body at 12:15 AM this morning (Monday 29th June, 2026) from under a rocky shelf, in approximately seventeen (17) feet of water. Police Officers from the Blanchisseuse Police Station visited and processed the scene. Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the tragic drowning. The Ministry of Education is advising parents and guardians that the results of the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) 2026 Examination are expected to be released on Thursday (2nd July, 2026). Students will be able to access their results via the Ministry’s SEA Portal from 11:00 PM. A total of 17,509 students, comprising 8,854 boys and 8,655 girls, wrote the SEA Exams on Thursday 26th March, 2026. An elderly woman is dead following a violent home invasion and robbery in Barrackpore on Saturday (27th June, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 75-year-old Tara Bridgemohan of Hassanali Trace, Barrackpore. She was tied up and suffocated to death during the terrifying ordeal. According to reports, intruders gained entry to the property by breaking in through the lower level of the house before making their way upstairs. They reportedly forced open a bedroom door, confronted the elderly woman, and tightly bound her hands and feet with tie-straps. She was also allegedly suffocated in an effort to muzzle her screams.  The bandits then ransacked the home in search of valuables and subsequently escaped with a quantity of jewellery and approximately US $1,000 in cash. UPDATE (17/07/26):  Businessman Dominic Hadeed and his wife, Genevieve Hadeed, are to remain at the Golden Grove Prison in Arouca, after the State secured a late-night Appeal Court ruling, which ordered a stay of an earlier judgment that ordered the couple be released from jail and be placed under house arrest. Following an emergency hearing last night (Thursday 16th July, 2026), Chief Justice (CJ) Ronnie Boodoosingh and Appellate Judges Mark Mohammed and Ricky Rahim granted an interim stay of the judgment delivered hours earlier by three (3) of their colleagues — Peter Rajkumar, Mira Dean-Armorer and Joan Charles. The panel also granted final leave for an appeal to the Privy Council by the State, as the move for the country’s highest Appellate Court to weigh in on the case was not opposed by the couple’s legal team. A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident in Maracas Fishing Village early Friday morning (26th June, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old fisherman, Alexander Jasef James, also known as “Alex,” of Spring Avenue, Maracas Bay Fishing Village. Investigators are probing whether the killing was linked to an ongoing dispute involving the victim’s brother and another man. According to reports, Officers assigned to the Maracas Bay Police Station were alerted to several loud explosions heard in the area, around 2:50 AM, followed by information that a man was seen lying motionless near the Fishing Depot and Boat Repair Yard along Spring Avenue. A woman accused of involvement in an alleged TT $20 million fraudulent cheque scheme has been granted bail in the sum of TT $6 million and ordered to surrender her Passport, pending the outcome of Court proceedings. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Jackqui Watson, formerly Watson-Vincent, appeared before Master Abraham on Monday (22nd June, 2026), where she was granted bail with surety.  The matter was adjourned to 5th November, 2026 for a Status Hearing, with a Sufficiency Hearing scheduled for 10th November, 2026. UPDATE 2:  Speaking with the Trinidad Express, PCA Director David West described Khan as a professional and jolly person. “He fitted very well in with the Police Complaints Authority, with our family, and everybody loved him. He was a genuine guy, who enjoyed his work; very professional. He was a joy to be around,” he said. West said Khan had been employed at the PCA for the past six (6) months, where he functioned as the I.T. Manager. He said before working at the PCA, Khan worked at National Flour Mills (NFM). When asked whether the incident may have been linked to his employment at the PCA, he replied: “I can’t comment on that, but he’s the I.T. A man is currently hospitalized following a brazen shooting incident in the car park of Grand Bazaar this morning (Thursday 25th June, 2026). The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Bahadoor Pooransingh, an employee of the Electrical and Maintenance Department at Grand Bazaar. According to reports, Pooransingh had just parked his vehicle in the car park and was walking towards a shed near the back entrance of the mall, when a lone gunman approached the victim and fired several shots before fleeing in a waiting car, around 9:30 AM.
