39-Year-Old Suspended Police Constable Arrested For Kidnapping, Sexual Offences
A suspended Police Constable of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has been arrested in connection with allegations of kidnapping and sexual offences against a 20-year-old female victim.
In a Media Release on Sunday (28th June, 2026), the TTPS said reports indicate that on 3rd June, 2026, the victim was allegedly forcibly removed from a vehicle by a man who identified himself as a Police Officer, displaying what appeared to be a TTPS Identification Badge.
The victim alleges that she was then taken to an unknown location where she was sexually assaulted.
A report was made to the Chaguanas Police Station and an investigation launched into the matter.
The TTPS said a ,male suspect, a 39-year-old Officer who is currently under suspension, was arrested in connection with the incident, under the authority of a 7-day Detention Order, on 20th June, 2026.
The suspect is expected to be charged with the offences of grievous sexual assault, attempted grievous sexual assault, serious indecency and kidnapping, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Roger Gaspard, SC.
He is expected to appear before a Master of the High Court this week.
The investigation was co-ordinated by DCP ‘Operations,’ Suzette Martin and Snr. Supt. Rudolph Bhagwandeen, supervised by ASP (Ag.) Mark Hernandez and executed by Insp. Rampersad and W/Cpl. Mohan, with assistance from PCs Leeshen Hosein, Toolaram, Chapman, Rampersad and Harripaul.
The Media Release concluded by saying, “The TTPS remains committed to ensuring that every allegation of criminal conduct is investigated thoroughly, professionally and impartially, regardless of the status or occupation of the person involved. No individual is above the law, and where sufficient evidence exists, appropriate criminal charges will be pursued.”
