TWO (2) Arima Men Charged With Murder of Businessman Azard Pooran
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), two (2) Arima men have appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with the murder of prominent businessman, Azard Pooran, which occurred earlier this year, on 2nd March, 2026.
The TTPS said Renaldo Thomas, 39 and Bradley Taitt, 26, both of Arima, were also charged with possession of firearm and possession of ammunition, when they appeared before Master Raydon Dalrymple-Watts, at the High Court, Criminal Division, on Wednesday 23rd September, 2026.
The Sufficiency Hearing date was set for 6th April, 2027.
Thomas is also facing a second murder case for the killing of another businessman, Bhyman “Bobby” Madhoo.
Pooran, 69, of Santa Rosa Heights, Arima was shot and killed at his home on 2nd March, 2026.
Two (2) male suspects were arrested at their homes on 15th September, 2026 and 17th September, 2026, by Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region II.
Investigations were supervised by ASP (Ag.) Victor, W/Insp. Sylvester, Sgt. Radhaykissoon, Sgt. Gordon and Legal Officer, PC Subiah, all of HBI Region II.
The duo was charged on 22nd September, 2026 by PC Jaghoo, also of HBI Region II, following advice received from Acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Anju Bhola, on that same date.
