28-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In Belmont, Teen Boy Among THREE (3) Others Wounded
A man is dead and three (3) others wounded, including a 14-year-old boy, following a shooting incident in Belmont last night (Thursday 26th March, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Kemar Miller, also known as “Jamaikie” of Belmont Valley Road, Belmont.
According to reports, Miller was sitting on an empty beer case with three (3) friends on Davis Street, when a grey Nissan AD wagon drove past them, around 9:00 PM. The wagon turned around and stopped a short distance away. Three (3) masked gunmen then alighted from the vehicle and opened fire on the group.
Police and Emergency Health Services were notified. However, Miller, who was struck several times about the body, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while passers-by took the wounded trio to the Hospital.
A 27-year-old man of Davis Street suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg and is in stable condition. A 14-year-old boy of Upper Davis Street was shot in the chest and remains in critical condition. The third victim, a 24-year-old man also of Upper Davis Street, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and is also in critical condition.
Officers of the Port-of-Spain CID and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) visited the scene.
Crime scene investigators recovered nine (9) spent .45 calibre shells and nine (9) spent 5.56 shells.
Miller was said to have been previously discharged by the High Court in December 2025, after prosecutors failed to comply with Court-ordered deadlines in an attempted murder case involving a Venezuelan national. The victim suffered serious injuries in June 2025 after a corrosive liquid was poured on him along Upper Davis Street, Belmont. The incident was recorded on cellphone video. Miller was one (1) of four (4) accused in that matter before the charges were dismissed. The other individuals were Rochard Manoram, Samantha Atkins and Randolph Gore.
Police have not yet established a motive for Miller’s murder. However, they are exploring whether it may have been linked to the previous charge against him.
Investigations are continuing by Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region I.
More on this as it becomes available.
