Police Officer Charged With Indecent Assault While On Duty; Granted $200,000 Bail

A Police Officer charged with the offence of indecent assault appeared before Master Guerra-Abraham at the Port-of-Spain Master’s Court on Monday (25th May, 2026), following investigations conducted by the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB).

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the accused, PC Nkosi Nunes, attached to the Northern Division, was granted bail with surety in the sum of TT $200,000 by Justice of the Peace (JP), Mr. Stephen Young. The matter was adjourned to 18th June, 2026.

The charge arose out of investigations into a report of indecent assault received by the PSB on 27th June, 2025.

The TTPS said investigations were immediately commenced and co-ordinated by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence and Investigations, Ms. Natasha George, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Richard Smith, and Senior Superintendent Lindon Douglas. The investigations were supervised by Woman Superintendent Bacchus and conducted by W/Ag. Sgt. McLean, along with other Officers attached to the PSB.

Investigations revealed that on Thursday 20th March, 2025, the victim was on duty at the Police Administration Building, Port-of-Spain, when the accused allegedly kissed her on the lips without her consent.

Following further enquiries, the accused was arrested for the offence of indecent assault, contrary to Section 15(1) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 11:28, as amended.

An audience was subsequently held with Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mr. Roger Gaspard SC, who provided legal advice. Following further instructions received, the charge was formally laid against the accused.
