PTSC Issues Statement On Bus Incident Near Macoya
UPDATE (02/06/26): While the statement issued by the PTSC indicated that the driver was undergoing medical treatment, there are unconfirmed reports that he subsequently died at Hospital.
There has been no official confirmation of those reports from either the PTSC or health authorities at this time, and the name of the driver has not been disclosed.
According to the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), at approximately 4:25 PM on Saturday afternoon (30th May, 2026), the driver of vehicle HDT 4003 experienced a medical emergency while en route to Port-of-Spain. As a result, the bus veered off the roadway in the vicinity of Macoya.
Emergency response personnel arrived promptly at the scene and assisted the passengers and the driver. The affected passengers and the driver were transported to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope, where they are currently undergoing medical treatment.
The Corporation said it “reaffirms its commitment to the highest safety standards and assures the public that the well-being of passengers, employees, and the wider community remains its top priority.”
Investigations are continuing into the incident.

I remembered as a child there used to be 2 drivers,I realized that doesn't happen anymore; I believe incidents like this could be avoided if they work with a partner..my condolences to the family 🙏
