WASA Advances Pipeline Upgrades And Service Improvements In Couva South

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) said it continues to advance critical infrastructure upgrades across the Couva South district, with several pipeline installation projects currently in progress and additional works planned to improve water supply reliability for residents.

In a Media Release on Friday (13th February, 2026), the Authority said these projects “form part of WASA's ongoing programme to strengthen transmission and distribution systems, reduce service interruptions, and expand access to safe, reliable water across communities.”

Projects In Progress And Scheduled

1. Installation of 1,425 metres (approx. 56,100 inches) of 8-inch PVC pipeline.

  • Status: Works in progress.
  • Projected Completion: February 28, 2026.
  • Estimated Beneficiaries: Approximately 480 persons.

2. Bisnath Drive, Basta Hall Village - Pipeline Installation (120 metres - approx. 4,724 inches of 4-inch PVC pipeline).

  • Projected Start: March 6, 2026.
  • Projected Completion: March 20, 2026.
  • Estimated Beneficiaries: Approximately 50 persons.

3. Cemetery Street, Balmain Village - Installation of 320 metres (approx. 12,598 inches) of 4-inch PVC pipeline.

  • Projected Start: March 13, 2026.
  • Projected Completion: April 10, 2026.
  • Estimated Beneficiaries: Approximately 160 persons.

4. Installation of approximately 1,100 metres (approx. 43,307 inches) of 12-inch ductile iron pipeline.

  • Status: Planned.

5. Teelucksingh Street East Extension, California - Installation of 500 metres (approx. 19,685 inches) of 4-inch PVC pipeline.

  • Status: Planned.

Additionally, WASA notes that a pipeline project involving the installation of 974 metres (approx. 38,346 inches) of 8-inch and 4-inch PVC infrastructure has been successfully completed, benefiting an estimated 200 residents.

The Media Release concluded by saying, “WASA remains committed to investing in sustainable infrastructure that supports national development and improves the quality of life for communities throughout Couva South. Residents are assured that every effort is being made to advance works efficiently while maintaining service continuity wherever possible.”
