According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), sunshine will likely be interrupted today (Tuesday 20th October, 2026) by a few intervals of cloud cover and showers, mainly during the early afternoon, and favouring the Northern half of Trinidad. There is also a medium (40%) chance of isolated thunderstorm activity, mainly over Western areas of Trinidad. Conditions should settle once again by evening, apart from the risk of brisk isolated showers.
Street flooding and gusty winds are possible in the event of heavy downpours.
The forecast maximum temperature today will be 33°C at Piarco in Trinidad and 32°C at Crown Point in Tobago.
Seas are slight with waves near 1.2m in open waters and below 0.5m and choppy near showers in sheltered areas.
Recommendations for outdoor activities today:
Persons planning to spend time outdoors today should stay hydrated, wear lightweight, breathable clothing, apply sunscreen and seek shade where possible, as temperatures are expected to reach 33°C at Piarco in Trinidad and 32°C at Crown Point in Tobago. Keep an umbrella or raincoat handy, particularly during the early afternoon when showers are likely, especially across the Northern half of Trinidad. Be alert for isolated thunderstorms over Western Trinidad, as heavy downpours could cause street flooding and gusty winds. Motorists should exercise caution on wet roads and avoid flooded streets, while persons involved in marine activities should remain mindful of choppy conditions in sheltered waters near showers. Although conditions are expected to settle by evening, remain prepared for brief, isolated showers.
