Heritage Warns of Fake Ads In Circulation On Social Media

Heritage Petroleum Company Limited (Heritage) is advising the public to exercise caution regarding several deceptive online advertisements and fake Facebook pages purporting to offer investment opportunities in Heritage.

In a Media Release on Wednesday (5th March, 2025), Heritage said, “Misleading advertisements are circulating on social media, urging persons to share personal information as part of the registration process to invest in Heritage shares. The public is reminded that Heritage is wholly State-owned, with the Minister of Finance in his capacity as Corporation Sole as its only shareholder, and that no shares are currently on offer to the public.”

Heritage added, “These latest fraudulent attempts follow two (2) previous advertisements involving a fake Facebook page — ‘Heritage Petroleum Trinidad and Tobago’ — with false claims of selling company shares. These fake pages were reported to Facebook for removal. The current advertisements represent yet another attempt to mislead the public and have been reported to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Cybercrime Unit and Facebook.”

Heritage further advises that its only legitimate Facebook page is under the name “Heritage Petroleum Company Limited” and can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/HeritagePetroleumCompanyLimited.

For official and reliable information, please visit Heritage’s website at https://www.heritage.co.tt.

The Media Release concluded by saying, “The public is strongly urged to refrain from visiting or sharing any fake profiles or deceptive advertisements and to interact only with our official channels.”

Please be guided accordingly.
