Hadeeds ‘In Good Spirits’ At Home After Homeland Security Minister Revokes Preventative Detention Orders

UPDATE (27/07/26): Dominic Hadeed, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Blue Waters Products Limited, received a warm and emotional welcome from employees today (Monday 27th July, 2026), as he returned to the company’s operations for the first time since his Preventive Detention Order (PDO) was revoked.

A video circulating on social media showed employees applauding and celebrating his return, with many describing the moment as a significant one for the Blue Waters family.


Hadeed, who had been away from the business during the period of his detention, was greeted by cheering staff members who expressed their happiness at seeing him back at the company.


Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, has revoked the Preventative Detention Orders (PDOs) issued against businessman Dominic Hadeed and his wife, Genevieve Hadeed. In announcing the revocation of the PDOs via a Media Release this afternoon (Thursday 23rd July, 2026), he stated that their continued detention was no longer proportionate while the criminal investigation continues.

Minister Alexander said he revoked the orders after reviewing the legal, medical and constitutional issues surrounding the couple’s detention. The Hadeeds were arrested by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on 24th June, 2026 as part of an investigation into an alleged plot to assassinate Prime Minister the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, and senior members of her Government.

Preventative Detention Orders were subsequently issued against the Hadeeds on 27th June, 2026 under the Emergency Powers Regulations 2026, during the ongoing State of Emergency.

Alexander stressed that the criminal investigation remains active at this time.

Businessman and friend of the Hadeeds, Peter George, spoke with the media this afternoon (Thursday 23rd July, 2026) after spending time with them at their Bayshore home upon their release from detention. George said Dominic and Genevieve Hadeed are relieved to be home and are in good spirits.

“I have today revoked the Preventative Detention Orders in the case of Dominic Hadeed and Genevierve Hadeed (the detainees). On the 24 June 2026 the detainees were arrested by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and detained as part of a criminal investigation into a plot to assassinate the Prime Minister and senior members of her government. That criminal investigation remains ongoing.

On the 27 June 2026 in the exercise of the powers conferred by the Emergency Powers Regulations 2026, to preserve and protect public safety during a public State of Emergency, I issued a Preventative Detention Order in the case of each of the detainees. Since that time I have kept under review the legality of the detention of the detainees to ensure that their detention is justified in accordance with the law, in particular the Emergency Powers Regulations 2026.

On the 19th July 2006 the Review Tribunal, established under section 11 (1) of the Constitution, recommended that the continued detention of the detainees was ‘not necessary or expedient in the public interest.’ On the 21st July 2026 I received a medical report in relation to the detainee Dominic Hadeed that detailed his medical condition and the required care plan that was necessary, in the view of their medical specialist, to address his medical condition. I have carefully considered the contents of this report and have taken advice on this matter with respect to the medical condition of Mr. Hadeed and his required treatment plan. I requested that Mr. Hadeed consent to being examined by an independent specialist appointed by the State but he refused.

In the discharge of my constitutional duty as Minister of Homeland Security, I am required to balance the detainee’s right to liberty and the protection of the law with the need to preserve and protect public safety during a public State of Emergency.

I have been advised that the investigations have been expanded beyond the original scope and spans multiple jurisdictions. These matters are complex and require extensive cooperation between several investigative agencies. The local and international law enforcement agencies involved continue to work assiduously on the matters under investigation.

I have determined that the balance, at the present time, having regard to all of the relevant circumstances, is in favor of release of the detainees. In particular, I have considered that the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council has declined to exercise its discretion to hear the substantive appeal in this matter on an expedited basis. In practical terms this would mean that the stay granted in favor of the State would require the detainees to be in prison until the end of the State of Emergency, all other things being equal. I recognise that continuing detention in those circumstances would be disproportionate.

In that regard, I have today revoked the Preventative Detention Orders issued to each detainee. In ordering the release of the detainees I have been assured by the TTPS that they will be the subject of continued monitoring and surveillance to ensure that the ongoing criminal investigation is in no way undermined. Further, steps have been implemented to ensure that the safety of those subject to the threat is in no way compromised and any risk is contained. I expect that the detainees though released will cooperate with all law enforcement agencies involved in the ongoing criminal investigation.”

A woman has been charged with the murder of   Chaguanas businessman Gregory Reece , who was stabbed to death at her apartment in Woodford Gardens on Sunday 28th June, 2026. TWO (2) Suspects Arrested Following Armed Robbery At Chaguanas Mini-Mart

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), a man and a woman were arrested and a firearm recovered, following a co-ordinated Police response to an armed robbery at a mini-mart in Chaguanas this afternoon (Friday 17th July, 2026). At approximately 12:55 PM, Officers of the Central Division Task Force (Area North) responded to a report of a robbery with aggravation at a mini-mart, located along La Clave Street, Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas. 31-Year-Old Missing Woman Found Alive In Mayaro — Taken For Medical Treatment

UPDATE (06/07/26): Shahnaaz Ali has told Police that she was kidnapped, drugged and tortured before being left abandoned near a beach in Mayaro. Police have since launched an investigation into the alleged kidnapping as enquiries continue. A woman who was reported missing after failing to return home from work on Friday (3rd July, 2026) has been safely located and taken for medical treatment. Shahnaaz Ali, the 31-year-old woman who was found in Mayaro the day after she failed to return home from work in Port-of-Spain , has told Police that she was kidnapped, drugged and tortured before being left abandoned near a beach in Mayaro. Venezuelan Woman Stabbed To Death By Boyfriend During Confrontation At Chaguanas Home

UPDATE (12/07/26): Police have launched a manhunt for the 23-year-old boyfriend of Kelimar Del Jesus Duran Morillo, following her fatal stabbing early Saturday morning. The incident unfolded just hours after Morillo and her on-and-off boyfriend of three (3) years attended his birthday celebration at his parents’ home in Endeavour, Chaguanas. 42-Year-Old Man Killed When Panel Van Crashes Into Truck Along Caparo Valley Brasso Road

A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road this morning (Saturday 4th July, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Jason Ramnanan of Caparo. According to reports, Ramnanan was driving a white panel van when it collided with a green and yellow waste disposal truck (TCJ 1195) near the Santa Phillipa Bridge along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road, around 9:00 AM.
