48-Year-Old Police Officer Ambushed, Shot Dead In Caroni — Teenage Suspect Dies At Hospital

A Police Officer and a teenage suspect are dead following a shooting incident in Kelly Village, Caroni, last night (Tuesday 28th July, 2026). The deceased Officer has been identified as 48-year-old Police Constable Romell Kerry Douglas, who was last assigned to the Four Roads Police Station. His licensed firearm was stolen during the suspected robbery.

According to reports, PC Douglas, who was off-duty at the time, was sitting in his white Nissan Tiida (PDD 6374) along South Bank Road, near Hydraulic Trace, when gunmen alighted from another white Nissan Tiida and confronted him, around 11:05 PM. The assailants opened fire, striking Douglas multiple times about the body. However, he managed to return fire during the attack, striking one of the suspects. The Officer’s licensed pistol was stolen before the men made their escape.

PC Douglas was found with multiple gunshot wounds by first responders, around 11:15 PM. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reports state that the wounded bandit, identified as 19-year-old Adetola Ammon of Arima, was later dropped off at the Arima Health Facility by the other suspects, where he died shortly afterwards.





CCTV footage from the area allegedly shows the suspects approaching PC Douglas’ vehicle moments after he parked along the roadway. The footage is also said to show the wounded suspect being placed into the getaway car by his accomplices before they fled the scene.

Police later found an abandoned vehicle in Maloney, believed to have been used by the attackers.

Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, confirmed the incident and extended condolences to Douglas’ family, friends and colleagues. 

A co-ordinated manhunt is underway for two (2) additional male suspects who were occupants of the white Nissan Tiida. The men remained at large up to this morning (Wednesday 29th July, 2026).

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding this brutal murder by Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region III.

22-Year-Old Man Shot Dead In Morvant — Face Disfigured In Hail of Bullets

A man is dead following a brutal shooting incident in Morvant early this morning (Tuesday 8th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Tylan Hinkson, aka “Papa,”of Redwood Street, Morvant. His face was said to have been disfigured in a hail of bullets from a high-powered weapon. According to reports, Hinkson was ambushed and shot near Second Caledonia Road, in the vicinity of Juman, during the early morning hours. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Officers found Hinkson lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds about the body, including severe injuries to his face, hands and legs. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was summoned, who pronounced Hinkson dead at the scene. Police have not yet established a motive for this murder. 19-Year-Old Driver Dies In Cocorite Crash — Passenger Hospitalized

A man is dead and another listed in serious condition at Hospital following a horrific road traffic accident in Cocorite on Wednesday night (9th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Binyameen Rahaman of Warren Road, Cunupia. The body of a missing pensioner was found under large suitcases at a house in Curepe on Monday afternoon (7th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 75-year-old Chunilal Bandoo of Mohammed Lane, Mc Inroy Street, Curepe. He was the father of a daughter, who resides in the United States. A man wanted for extortion is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Carapichaima early Thursday morning (10th September, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Riyad Sean Ali of Orangefield Settlement, Carapichaima. His elderly mother and brother were reportedly detained and firearms seized at the scene. BODY of Woman Found Inside Abandoned Security Booth In San Fernando — Police Investigating

The decomposing body of a woman was found inside an abandoned security booth on the compound of an old panyard in San Fernando on Wednesday morning (16th September, 2026). While unconfirmed, the deceased is believed to be Marcia Thomas Singh, who residents said appeared to be in her 60s. She had been apparently residing in the security booth for some time. A man is dead following a shooting incident in Morvant early Thursday morning (10th September, 2026) — bringing the number of people killed in Morvant since Tuesday (8th September, 2026) to four (4).
