Escaped Murder-Accused Shot Dead In Confrontation With Police In Vistabella

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is advising that an intelligence‑led operation, conducted between 4:00 PM and 11:00 PM on Friday (31st July, 2026), resulted in the fatal shooting of escaped prisoner, Robby Khadoo, and the arrest of a female for harbouring an escaped prisoner. Khadoo, known by several aliases, including Allan Charles, Joshua Dillon Chambers, Robby Dylan Khadoo and Robby Dillon Joshua Khadoo, who had been charged with murder, attempted murder, and wounding with intent, escaped lawful custody at the Arima Hospital on 3rd July, 2026.

According to the TTPS, intelligence guided Officers of the Home Invasion Team (HIT), Southern Divisional Task Force (SDTF) and Marabella Police Station, to a location at Fabien Street, Vistabella. Whilst engaged in a systematic clearing of the premises, Officers encountered the fugitive, who was armed with a firearm and refused to obey verbal commands instructing him to drop the weapon; choosing instead to engage the Officers, thereby creating an imminent threat to life.

In accordance with the TTPS’ Use of Force policy, Officers discharged their issued firearms, injuring the suspect, who was transported to the San Fernando General Hospital and later pronounced dead — ending a 28-day intense manhunt for the escapee.

A .22 calibre revolver, loaded with three (3) rounds of ammunition, was recovered at the scene, which was processed by the Divisional Crime Scene Investigation Unit.

A female occupant was arrested and remains in custody, pending enquiries into harbouring an escaped prisoner.

No Officers were injured during the operation.

Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, commended the Officers for their disciplined execution of a high‑risk operation, noting that their actions reflect the continued importance of intelligence‑led Policing, co-ordinated planning, and inter‑unit collaboration in addressing violent offenders. He further warned members of the public that assisting fugitives is a criminal offence that places communities at risk and will be met with firm law enforcement action.
