BODY of Missing Man Found Floating In Sea At Blenheim, Tobago — Police Investigating

UPDATE (18/05/26): Investigators believe Daniel Mclean may have fallen from a coconut tree, hit his head and rolled into the nearby sea, as his body was reportedly found with head wounds.

The body of a man was located and retrieved from the sea in Blenheim, Tobago, on Friday morning (15th May, 2026) by members of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT). The deceased has been identified as Daniel Mclean of Bacolet, Tobago. He was a father of one (1) and an employee of Dane Phillip Plumbing and Enterprises, who was also known for earning extra income by picking coconuts.

According to reports, Mclean was reported missing around 6:00 PM on Thursday (14th May, 2026) after he failed to return home. His clothes and a bunch of coconuts were later found beneath a coconut tree near the coastline, but there was no sign of him.

A search was launched on Friday morning, consisting of TEMA (Tobago Emergency Management Agency), Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and the HSRT. 

A body was subsequently sighted floating in the waters off Mt. St. George and was successfully retrieved by the HSRT.

 

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body.
