TTPS Issues Statement About Missing 2-Year-Old Angelo Tobias of Goodwood, Tobago
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is confirming that upon receipt of a report regarding the disappearance of 2-year-old Angelo Tobias of Goodwood, Tobago, on Monday 11th May, 2026, Officers immediately initiated a co-ordinated and comprehensive response.
In a Media Release this morning (Sunday 17th May, 2026), the TTPS said, “A thorough search operation was promptly undertaken in and around the vicinity of the child’s residence, involving multiple agencies. This included extensive searches of surrounding areas as well as nearby coastal waters, where the child was last reportedly seen. Several individuals have been interviewed, and statements have been recorded as part of the ongoing investigation. At this time, the matter continues to be treated as a missing person investigation. However, in keeping with standard investigative protocols, the Homicide Bureau of Investigations and the Special Victims Department have been engaged to provide additional support and to ensure that all investigative avenues are thoroughly examined.”
The TTPS notes that it is “adopting a wide, methodical, and meticulous approach to this matter. This includes careful consideration of issues surrounding parental responsibility, which remains a critical component in cases of this nature. In accordance with standard procedures where there is a potential breach of parental duty, the child’s parents are currently assisting Police with enquiries. Investigators continue to actively pursue all necessary lines of investigation.”
The Police Service added, “We emphasize that this is a highly sensitive and active investigation. The TTPS remains committed to conducting its work with the utmost professionalism, fairness, and respect for the constitutional rights of all parties involved. We are equally mindful of our responsibility to communicate with the public in a measured and responsible manner, and will provide updates as information becomes available and can be appropriately disclosed. The TTPS acknowledges that this incident has deeply affected the national community. We therefore urge members of the public to exercise restraint and responsibility in their commentary, and to allow the investigative process to proceed without interference.”
Search efforts remain ongoing.
The TTPS is appealing to anyone with information that may assist in locating Angelo Tobias to contact the Scarborough Police Station, call 555, 800-TIPS (800-8477), or Tobago 211.
According to the TTPS, “The Commissioner of Police has taken a keen interest in this matter and has directed additional resources, including support to the Child Protection Unit and the assignment of a Legal Officer from Trinidad, to ensure a comprehensive and thorough investigation.”
The TTPS is advising persons to “refrain from sharing any material that may constitute potential evidence, or evidence already provided to investigators, as such disclosures can adversely affect and prejudice the integrity of the ongoing investigation.”
The Media Release concluded by saying, “The public will be updated as soon as further information becomes available.”
