Car Flips During High-Speed Chase Along Beetham Highway — Police Van Also Damaged
A dramatic high-speed chase along the Beetham Highway this afternoon (Thursday 20th August, 2026) resulted in a car flipping over and a Police van sustaining significant damage.
According to reports, the driver of a dark-coloured car (PDZ 2539) allegedly breached a traffic light, prompting a chase by members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS). Highway Patrol Officers who were stationed at the nearby NP Gas Station on the Beetham Highway intercepted the vehicle, which then collided with a TTPS van, causing the vehicle to overturn on the side of the roadway.
The Police van was badly damaged in the operation.

It is understood the driver of the vehicle was fleeing police after breaking a red light.
Highway Patrol stationed at the gas station on the highway intercepted the vehicle which flipped.

The driver of the car was subsequently taken into custody. The extent of their injuries is unclear at this time.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
