Pedestrian Struck And Killed While Attempting To Cross Uriah Butler Highway — Right Foot Severed
A man is dead after he was tragically struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Uriah Butler Highway late last night (Monday 7th September, 2026). The deceased has not yet been identified but is believed to be in his 40s. His right foot was said to have been severed during the powerful impact.
According to reports, the driver of a dark grey Suzuki Baleno was travelling North along the Highway, around 10:20 PM, when he noticed the pedestrian, who was about twenty (20) to thirty (30) feet ahead, attempting to cross the roadway.
The driver reportedly attempted to slow down, but as he approached, the man entered the path of the vehicle and was struck. The impact was so severe, the victim’s right foot was reportedly severed.
Police and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. However, the pedestrian was found unresponsive on the roadway. He was described as a man of African descent, with a dark brown complexion and bald spot, clad in multi-coloured shorts. He was believed to be between forty (40) to fifty (50) years old.
The man was subsequently pronounced dead at approximately 12:30 AM.
Police and crime scene investigators examined and photographed the area, while the body was later ordered removed to a funeral home.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
