Alert: Delay In Delivery of Social Welfare Cheques For October 2025
UPDATE (01/10/25): The Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, along with members of the Ministry's Executive team, met with representatives of the National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago (NIBTT) today (Wednesday 1st October, 2025), to discuss the delay in the delivery of Social Welfare cheques. No resolution has been announced thus far.
The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services is advising the public that there will be a delay in the delivery of cheques to recipients of Social Welfare Grants (Senior Citizens' Pension, Disability Assistance and Public Assistance Grants and Food Support) for the month of October 2025, due to unforeseen technical difficulties affecting the printing process.
In a Public Notice issued today (Friday 26th September, 2025), the Ministry said it is “working with all partners involved to bring about a quick resolution to the matter. Once resolved, the distribution of cheques will begin without delay.”
Clients currently on Direct Deposit will not be affected by the arrangement and thus will receive their funds directly in their bank accounts, as is customary.
The Ministry is further encouraging clients to enroll for Direct Deposit by visiting any Social Welfare Office or download forms from www.social.gov.tt.
Please be guided accordingly.
