The decomposing body of a man was found bound and gagged in a forested area in Cumuto this afternoon (Monday 3rd November, 2025). The body is believed to be that of a missing ex-Fireman, 63-year-old Anslym Andy Alonzo of #129 Azalea Circular, Duranta Gardens, Sangre Grande. It is alleged he was abducted from his workshop and subsequently killed.

According to the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT), the body, which was found off Peterson Trace, De Gannes Road, Little Coora Road, Cumuto, will still have to be officially identified tomorrow (Tuesday 4th November, 2025). “Due to its state of decomposition, relatives of missing person Anslym Andy Alonso were unable to view the body. Sources close to Hunters Search and Rescue Team, led by Captain Vallence Rambharat, feel strongly that the body is that of him. A further update will be posted.”

According to reports, Alonzo was last seen around 2:00 PM on Friday (31st October, 2025), when he left his home to visit his workshop, located at Cyp Avenue, Barker Trace, Coalmine, Sangre Grande. A neighbour later reported hearing him working, around 4:00 PM. However, by evening, the workshop’s door was observed to have been left open, tools were scattered, and both Alonzo and his vehicle were missing.

Reports allege that Alonzo was abducted by two (2) armed men from his workshop. One of the suspects, who allegedly resides in the area, has not been seen or heard from since Saturday (1st November, 2025).

Family members filed a missing person’s report with the Sangre Grande Police Station and had been pleading for the public’s help to locate him.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted to confirm the victim’s identity and cause of death.

Investigations are continuing into the suspected abduction and murder by Officers from the Cumuto Police Station and Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI).

More on this as it becomes available.
