TTPost: Changes To International Registered Mail Service For Packages
The Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation (TTPost) is informing the public that effective 1st January, 2026, and as a result of international regulations, it can no longer accept outbound or inbound goods or merchandise via the International Registered Mail service.
In a Public Notice issued on Tuesday (30th December, 2025), TTPost said this global change has been mandated by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) as part of the worldwide standardization of international mail categories.
Under these new regulations, the International Registered Mail service will be strictly limited to the mailing of documents with no commercial value, including, but not limited to:
- Legal documents.
- Certificates.
- Official correspondence.
Customers wishing to mail goods or merchandise are advised to utilize the Parcel Post Service, which offers specialized handling, tracking, and proof of delivery specifically designed for items of commercial or non-document value. Utilizing the Parcel Post Service will avoid delays or the return of prohibited items.
TTPost said it sincerely apologizes “for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding and co-operation during this transition.”
