46-Year-Old Businessman Dies In Tree-Cutting Accident In Siparia
A businessman is dead following a tree-cutting accident in Siparia on Monday morning (12th January, 2026). The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Bishen Rampersadsingh of Jhulai Trace, Penal Rock Road. He was the owner of Bishen Rampersadsingh Sawmilling & Pallet Manufacturing Company.
According to reports, Rampersadsingh and an employee were cutting a tree in the Siparia area, along David Jackman Trace, Quinam Road, around 9:20 AM, when it suddenly fell, trapping Rampersadsingh. With the use of a chainsaw, the employee was eventually able to cut away parts of the tree trunk in order to free him, but he was unresponsive. Police, Fire and Emergency Health Services were notified and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Police Officers proceeded approximately 300 metres along a dirt track, where they met the employee and Fire Officers already present from the Siparia Fire Station, who then led them about seventy (70) metres into a bushy area, where they found Rampersadsingh’s body. He was conveyed to the Siparia District Health Facility, where attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. Rampersadsingh was unfortunately declared dead around 10:45 AM.
