23-Year-Old Local Entertainer ‘Young Star 6ixx’ Charged For Gang-Related Offence

A local entertainer is scheduled to appear at the Pt. Fortin Magistrates’ Court today (Friday 7th February, 2025), after he was charged with professing to be a gang member in order to promote a gang.

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Yasheen Alexander, also known as ‘Young Star 6ixx,’ a 23-year-old musician/entertainer of La Brea, was arrested on 29th January, 2025, during ongoing State of Emergency operations.

Officers of the South Western Division Gang Intelligence Unit conducted extensive inquiries into gang-related activities in the area. As part of the investigation, several video clips were obtained and analyzed by the Cyber and Social Media Unit, leading to further inquiries. Following a meeting with Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) - South, Mrs. Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal, on Thursday (6th February, 2025), advice was given to charge Alexander with the offence.

Additionally, as part of ongoing State of Emergency crime suppression efforts, the TTPS notes that two (2) applications for Preventative Detention Orders (PDOs) were submitted and granted by the Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds. This resulted in the issuance of eight (8) PDOs — one covering seven (7) individuals and another pertaining to a single individual.

These operations were supervised by DCP Intelligence and Investigations, Suzette Martin.

The TTPS said it “remains committed to dismantling gang networks and ensuring that individuals who engage in criminal activities, including the promotion of gang culture, are brought to justice. We continue to urge the public to report suspicious activity to the police via 999, 911, 555, 800-TIPS, or any Police Station.”
