24-Year-Old Off-Duty Police Officer Dies In Horrific Motorcycle Crash Along Highway

A motorcyclist is dead following a road traffic accident along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway last night (Saturday 8th February, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Police Officer No. 20978 Sheem Aaron Williams of Harry Goland Street, Carapichaima. He was attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Cunupia Police Station, and was due to turn twenty-five (25) later this month.

According to reports, Williams was riding his private motorcycle, heading North along the Highway, around 10:15 PM, when he lost control and slammed into the barrier separating the North and Southbound lanes, near the T&TEC sub-station in Freeport. The impact is said to have severed his right arm, and his body was flung onto the roadway, where it was then struck by several vehicles. Williams died at the scene.

Relatives of the deceased Officer are now planning his funeral for Valentine’s Day. Shevlin Williams, his father, said, “We hope to have the funeral on that day.” Shevlin described his son as someone who “loved his job more than anything else and wanted to be a good Policeman.” Earlier that day, Williams had attended the funeral of the wife of one of his friends.

Investigations are continuing.

More on this as it becomes available.
