Met Office Issues High Winds Alert Until 17th February, 2025

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has issued a High Winds Alert (Yellow Level) until Monday 17th February, 2025. The Alert begins at 1:00 PM this afternoon (Tuesday 11th February, 2025) and will remain in effect until 6:00 PM on Monday 17th February, 2025 for Trinidad and Tobago.

According to the Met Office, strong low-level winds will produce breezy to windy conditions over the next several days, with a high potential for gusts exceeding 55 Km/h, especially near showers. These strong gusts may be brief but can displace unsecured roofs, loose outdoor objects and can even topple trees or weak structures. Additionally, a Hazardous Seas Alert (Yellow Level) remains in effect as these winds will contribute to rough sea conditions.

Instructions:
  • Secure loose outdoor objects and livestock.
  • Marine interests should secure marine craft and exercise extra caution during this period.
  • Follow the instructions of lifeguards.
  • Monitor official news sources and weather updates from www.metoffice.gov.tt.

Please continue to pay attention to the latest forecasts, alerts, and information issued by the TTMS.
