Suspect Arrested Near Cumuto Traffic Lights With FOUR (4) Firearms In Vehicle — SIX (6) More Found At Home

Officers of the Northern Division North have recently intensified their crime-fighting efforts, executing a series of intelligence-led operations. These strategic initiatives, which targeted known offenders, led to the seizure of multiple firearms, ammunition, narcotics, as well as the arrest of eighteen (18) suspects.

On Thursday (30th February, 2025), Officers, acting on intelligence, intercepted a Toyota Fielder wagon near the Cumuto traffic lights. Officers of the Arima Intel/Ops Team arrested the lone occupant, after discovering an AR-15 rifle, a revolver, two (2) shotguns, and twenty (20) rounds of .38 Special ammunition in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the suspect’s Chaguanas residence under the State of Emergency Regulations, uncovered six (6) revolvers, thirty-one (31) rounds of 9mm ammunition, forty-one (41) rounds of 5.56 ammunition, forty-six (46) rounds of .380 ammunition and four (4) rounds of .45 ammunition. 

 

Also on Thursday, Officers conducted a house search operation in Arima. During a search of a home on Blanchisseuse Road, Officers seized ninety-seven (97) grams of cannabis, leading to the arrest of a male suspect. Additionally, a search of an abandoned structure on Tannis Lane, uncovered a box containing twelve (12) rounds of 9mm ammunition.

A Multi-Sectional Intelligence-Led Operation was conducted in the Central Division by the Northern Division Gang Unit, Central Division Gang Unit, Special Investigation Unit and Central Division North Task Force, where surveillance was conducted over a period of several days. Surveillance led to the interception of a vehicle in Cunupia, where a firearm and twenty-one (21) rounds of ammunition were seized, resulting in the arrest of a suspect. The Officers then proceeded to Dyette Street Extension, where they discovered a stolen vehicle with false registration, leading to the arrest of two (2) occupants. Two (2) other persons who were at the location were also arrested and cautioned under the State of Emergency Regulations 2024. The Officers then proceeded to Church Street, Cunupia, where a search was conducted under the State of Emergency Regulations. During the search, the Officers found and seized 240 grams of Cannabis, and twenty-seven (27) grams of cocaine, leading to the arrest of a suspect.

Additionally, a Roving Warrant Operation, conducted on Wednesday (29th January, 2025), resulted in the arrest of nine (9) suspects, as sixteen (16) affiliation warrants were executed. Meanwhile, during a House Search and Roving SOE Operation, Officers targeted priority offenders, resulting in the arrest of two (2) suspects — one for possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking near a pre-school and another for possession of apparatus.

Investigations are continuing.
