THREE (3) Held With Cocaine By Anti-Extortion Unit
Investigations into alleged incidents of extortion by Officers of the Anti-Extortion Unit, have resulted in the arrest of three (3) persons and the seizure of a quantity of narcotics.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), an intelligence-led extortion disruption operation was conducted in the Trincity district, around 9:15 PM on Monday 27th January, 2025, following reports that armed Spanish-speaking nationals, driving a blue Hyundai Accent, had been extorting other Spanish-speaking nationals for drugs and other valuables, in the Arouca and St. Joseph districts.During the exercise, the Officers intercepted the vehicle in question with three (3) occupants, at Trincity Central Road North, and conducted a search, which resulted in the discovery of a quantity of cocaine in plastic packaging.
The three (3) suspects, a 26-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, both of St. James, and a 19-year-old of Diego Martin, were arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations into the extortion matters are ongoing.
