THREE (3) Persons Shot Dead By Police In Chaguanas — Identities Revealed
Two (2) men and a woman are dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Chaguanas on Wednesday night (29th January, 2025). The deceased have been identified as brothers, Jonathan Bahadur, aka ‘Pigman,’ and Roshon Bahadur, aka ‘Boom,’ and 18-year-old Rhianna Ronnie, a student at the Union Claxton Bay Secondary School, who lived with her mother in Vistabella, San Fernando.
According to reports, Police were on an exercise in search of suspects involved in a robbery, which occurred early Wednesday morning on Ojar Avenue, Chandernagore. Around 10:30 PM, Officers from the Couva CID, Central Division Task Force - Area South, and the Couva Charge Room, were proceeding along Perseverance Road, Chaguanas, when they spotted a Nissan Tiida (PCS 1453), which was allegedly involved in the robbery.The vehicle was stopped, and as Officers approached, shots were allegedly fired at them, and they returned fire.
The car then sped off and Officers called for assistance but lost sight of the vehicle.
Searches were conducted, and a man of African descent was observed exiting a bushy area with a firearm in his hand. He was called upon to drop the weapon and surrender, but he ignored their commands and instead pointed the weapon in their direction, at which point he was fired upon by Officers.
Additional searches were carried out, and a female and another male were observed with gunshot injuries nearby.
The Tiida was also observed crashed in a bushy area off the roadway, and another firearm was found on the floor inside the vehicle.
The victims were conveyed to the nearby Chaguanas District Health Facility, where they were medically examined and later declared dead.
Investigations are continuing.
