Here’s The 5-Day Weather Outlook For T&T — From Friday Through Tuesday

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), frontal systems tracking across the sub-tropical Atlantic have been dissecting the Bermuda-Azores high pressure over the sub-tropical Atlantic and not allowing for much strengthening. As a result, the wind strength across the Tropical Atlantic is likely to be relatively reduced, although there are still expected to be breezy periods at times. During this outlook period, the passing frontal systems are likely to produce a shear-line, mainly across the Northern Leeward Islands and also influence lines of increased surface convergence, mainly between the Southern Leeward and the Northern Windward Islands. An induced low to mid-level perturbation is expected to create increased surface convergence and moisture build-up over the near-Eastern coastal and offshore areas of Trinidad and Tobago on Friday (14th March, 2025).

The seas in the open waters to the near-East and Northeast of Trinidad and Tobago are expected to be near 1.5m for most of this outlook period until Monday (17th March, 2025), when it is likely to be closer to 2m.

The near-surface to the mid-level wind is expected to remain normal for most of this outlook period, but breezy conditions could develop at times, especially over elevated terrain or in the vicinity of any shower that might occur.

The Met Office notes that Saharan dust concentration in the atmosphere is likely to remain mild until Monday (17th March, 2025), when there is expected to be a sharp increase to moderate to high for approximately two (2) days until around Wednesday (19th March, 2025), after which there is a reduction to mild to moderate concentrations.

For this outlook period, generally fair conditions are likely, with brief showers over varying areas, for most of the island chain, but from Thursday (13th March, 2025) to Saturday (15th March, 2025), across the Northern Leeward Islands, there is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with light to moderate showers over varying areas and a medium to high chance for an isolated heavy shower or an isolated thunderstorm. A line of increased surface convergence from late Saturday evening (15th March, 2025) to Monday morning (17th March, 2025), is likely to produce partly cloudy periods with a few moderate showers, with the medium chance for an isolated heavy shower or thunderstorm between the Southern Leeward and Northern Windward Islands.

Friday (14th March, 2025)

  • Trinidad and Tobago is expected to experience an increase in surface convergence and moisture build-up from pre-dawn to the afternoon. This is expected to result in partly cloudy to at times cloudy conditions in some areas, with light to moderate showers. There is a medium to high chance for the development of thunderstorm activity, mainly in the near-Eastern coastal and offshore areas. Although the initial estimations of overland precipitation amounts appear to be reduced at this time, due to the close proximity of the expected offshore weather, there is still the possibility of an isolated heavy shower or thunderstorm to develop on land over Eastern areas of Trinidad. During the late morning to afternoon, there is a medium chance for a heavy shower to develop over Western Trinidad. By late afternoon, there is expected to be fairer conditions. The remainder of the Lesser Antilles are expected to be mostly fair and sunny, but over the Northern Leeward Islands, there is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy periods with showers over varying areas and a medium to high chance for a few isolated heavy showers or an isolated thunderstorm.

Saturday (15th March, 2025)

  • For Trinidad and Tobago, brief early morning showers are likely to give way to a mostly fair and sunny day. The Windward Islands can expect partly cloudy periods with a few isolated showers during the morning, becoming fair and sunny by afternoon. The Leeward Islands are expected to be mostly fair and sunny, but over the extreme Northern Leeward Islands, there is likely to be a few light or moderate showers.

Sunday (16th March, 2025)

  • Low-level convergence and moisture advection across Trinidad and Tobago are likely to produce a few partly cloudy periods to interrupt otherwise fair conditions. During the morning, light or moderate showers are likely over the coastal and near-Eastern to Southeastern offshore areas of Trinidad, and from late morning to early afternoon, there is a medium chance for an isolated heavy shower near hilly areas or Western Trinidad. The remainder of the Lesser Antilles is expected to be generally fair and sunny, except for a few partly cloudy periods over the extreme Northern Leeward Islands and also over the Central islands.

Monday (17th March, 2025)

  • For Trinidad and Tobago and the remainder of the Lesser Antilles, fair and sunny conditions will be interrupted at times, in varying areas, with a few brief showers and a medium chance for a heavy shower to develop during the late morning to afternoon, especially near hilly areas.

Tuesday (18th March, 2025)

  • Trinidad and Tobago and the Windward Islands are expected to see mostly fair and sunny conditions with the chance for a brief shower. Over the Leeward Islands, fair and sunny conditions will be interrupted at times, in varying areas, with a few brief showers and a medium chance for a heavy shower to develop during the late morning to afternoon, especially near hilly areas.
