31-Year-Old Man Shot Dead By Police In Santa Cruz

A man is dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Santa Cruz on Thursday morning (18th September, 2025). The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Aaron Benjamin, aka ‘Sequea,’ of Petit Curacaye, Santa Cruz. He was shot and killed during an anti-crime operation.

According to reports, Officers executed a search at Benjamin's home under the Emergency Regulations 2025, around 6:00 AM on Thursday morning. Upon entering the house, Benjamin allegedly jumped up from a couch and pointed a black metal object at the Officers. Fearing for their lives, the Officers opened fire and Benjamin collapsed.

He was taken by Officers to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mount Hope, where he succumbed to his injuries while being treated.

The incident occurred hours after a Laventille man, also 31, died after being shot by Officers on Wednesday night (17th September, 2025). 

Investigations are continuing into both Police-involved shooting incidents.
