32-Year-Old Point Fortin Man Held For Demanding Money By Menaces
A 32-year-old man has been arrested following an intelligence-led operation conducted by Officers of the Anti-Extortion Unit in the South-Western Division on Friday (5th September, 2025).
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said between Saturday 16th August, 2025 and Thursday 4th September, 2025, the victim, a 55-year-old male teacher of Cape Street, Point Fortin, reported receiving several threatening messages from a man known to him. The suspect allegedly demanded money in exchange for not releasing a sexually explicit video.
According to the report, the victim met the suspect on five (5) occasions at Cape Street, Point Fortin, and paid a total of $3,800. Following the report, Officers from the Anti-Extortion Unit launched an intensive investigation which yielded credible intelligence.
On Friday (5th September 2025), between the hours of 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM, a co-ordinated, intelligence-led operation was executed in the Point Fortin Police District. As a result, a 32-year-old man from Fanny Village, Point Fortin, was arrested and is currently assisting Police with inquiries in relation to six (6) counts of demanding money with menaces and five (5) counts of simple robbery.
The TTPS said the operation was co-ordinated by ACP Pierre and supervised by Sgt. Bacchus, Cpl. Baksh, and Cpl. Rampersad.
Investigations are ongoing.
